Bar Tape Color - suggestions
So I've got my Alan together. I need some suggestions on bar tape. Mainly, what color do you suggest?
I'll probably use cloth. Right now I have white, yellow, and brown. Please take the poll and let me know what you think, or if you have some other color or bar tape suggestion please say so.
BTW, I'm very happy with the ride and fit of this bike so far. It's pretty light and responsive. Granted, I've only had it around the the block a few times, but I can't wait to take it on a longer ride.
It's so shiny its hard to get a good pic of though. It's always glaring at me.

Black or yellow, to match the lettering. Black would be my preference though since you already have yellow cabling. Also, black won't show the grime.

Agree with black suggestions. There's enough yellow on the bike, plus, it'll coordinate with the tires and saddle, the yellow is a good contrast with the silver frame and black letters.
Cork would probably feel better than cloth.

that saddle is brown suede, not black thats why I wasnt overly keen on the black idea. That said, I may end up running a honey brooks pro with copper rivets from one of my other bikes. But that might be too much bling..

ok what about the red /maroon color to match the stripe on the seat tube decals? I think that would be super sharp.

Brown Would go well with the saddle color, blend in nicely with the yellow cable housings, and probably would help hide dirt.

At first, I thought yellow. But the more I think about it, the yellow would likely be washed out by the bright silver finish of the frame. I'm now thinking a nice contrasting color for the bar tape like navy blue would be the ticket.
You're in luck too. I have two rolls of navy blue cloth tape on hand. You can have them if you want.

Black (or brown since you have it) and yellow diamond pattern in cotton.

It's only bar tape. You get bored with it, you try something new.

I firmly believe that bar tape should match the saddle. I even prefer the cable housing to match.

I'm seeing orange Velox cloth. Love that stuff and it usually doesn't go, but with that silvery base and brown saddle you're working with, it's a go.

Not to steal this thread, but I don't feel it merits another. I am experimenting with my silver/yellow bike, also. How bad does this tape look? The yellow in the lettering is really hard to match. It seems to have some orange in it or something. Is this just too far off?
BTW, the yellow is Wilson tennis racquet tape from walmart ($2.50 for 3 rolls) I really like the feel of the tape but it needs a layer of cork underneath for padding. Good grip and absorbent.

If you get yellow, the chance is it won't be the same yellow and it will look like 90% of the bikes out there that ALMOST match but don't. White is best but there is very little white on the bike to go with. I vote for black. Classic, lasts the longest (colorwise) and did I mention it is classic.

I agree with Robatsu. SOMA makes a light/medium gray with cork bits which is mighty tasty looking. Thick and Zesty.
Nice bike. I almost ruined your fun on that one. It could be in my hands now, you know. ;-)
I like the job you're doing on it. It would still be hanging in queue for me.
