The 12 Types Of Bike Commuters - semi-rad.com

I was definitely Apprehensive Neophyte. The terror just gradually became less and less visible on my face.

Started out as Apprehensive Neophyte, turned into a combo of Righteous Indignatius, Drunk Guy, and a touch of No Bad Weather, Only Bad Clothing. More on that as I continue to acquire appropriate clothing

Righteous Indignatius
  • Commute has higher purpose than the standard just-getting-to-work utilitarianism. Is for fitness, for environmental reasons, possibly enlightenment, for avoidance of psychological fatigue that comes from driving in traffic every day. Still every once in a while is affected by traffic or individual drivers who try to kill him/her, must scream or give finger to cabbie/pizza delivery driver/texting driver drifting into bike lane

yeah, that's me, more or less.

more enlightenment, less screaming.

I don't really see myself on there, Righteous Indignatius is I guess closest, "avoidance of psychological fatigue that comes from driving in traffic every day", but there should be another one like "Old-Timer: used to be Righteous Indignatius, but eventually got over himself and now just rides bike to work. Whatever."

I think it's safe to say that most here are the Righteous Indignatius. I'm not Bad Weather/Bad Clothing guy, yet, but I could see how I might become one in the near future. But still, that Canadian winter...

I'm leaning towards "No Bad Weather, Only Bad Clothing" without the fenders, because **** fenders. Throw in a bit of "Righteous Indignatius" because I hate driving and love cycling.

I'm a "no bad weather" by default living in the Northwest, and a few times a year a "truck driving bike commuter" because gentrification sometimes ignores reason and practicality.

This is great! I'm a blend of "no bad weather, only bad clothing" and "appreciation and real fear of death."

"No bad weather" type I guess. I don't bike for show, or superiority, or out of necessity, or for enlightenment. No helmet, no fenders. No anger, no attitude. Just fun and frugality.

So everyone who combines training with commuting is a Righteous Indignatius? Okay, whatever, I guess.

How about the competitive follower? The only reason is because some one with higher stature is doing it so "I have to be cool and do it too." Or the "I can do it better".

I'm definitely "No Bad Weather, Only Bad Clothing". The thought of sitting my butt down on a cold car seat gives me the whillies.

No Bad Weather for me. Except I don't ride below 20°F. Or if raining in the 40's or below. I can't handle 75+ minutes on the bike in those conditions.

Otherwise I use the weather forecast to figure out what I will wear that day.

Cute, but I feel left out.

I'm a long-time bike nut who likes to ride to work when I can...

Righteous guy, here.

Also thanks for linking to that blog. Spent my whole lunch reading posts. Guy is awesome and basically the exact same person as me - only he writes better and actually gets outdoors more.
