Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

If you get outside of the cities, you can run in to some accents, but I don't think that I've ever come across any nearly as thick as in Fargo (the movie - haven't spent any time in the city).

My old roommate's parents had it. Too hilarious! They are Wisconsinites but I guess that's close enough

I hope you get it sorted out and you can get back on the road.
in my adult life i’ve had a couple different hobbies/obsessions over the years, it really seemed like cycling was the best of them and most likely to be a forever thing. that’s a big part of the hit.

maybe it’s actually too soon to say definitively that i’m retired - my EP thinks it may actually be covid related. apparently there are some cases of asymptomatic covid triggering ventricular arrhythmia. ironically, that would actually be a great outcome, because they seem to subside after 4-6 weeks. the timing doesn’t seem to quite work with my daughter’s test results but who knows.

If I didn’t have a family, I would have already been back in the bike. (Solo of course).

Anyways I can’t take being stuck in this room anymore. I ended up starting the plaxovid but should have listened to Datlas. A. the taste in my mouth is god f-in awful, B. I feel worse off. I only took one dose so I am debating to just drop it. Other than that I am trying to decide if my back aches now due to being stuck in bed the last 2 days, or the medicine or covid. I think today I am going for a walk I need fresh air, and a shower. If I can sneak into a bike it is most def happening. Also, plan on grabbing the emonda today. Won’t go into the shop will just have them bring it out back and I will grab it.

A cautionary tale.

I guess my question for Datlas, If I only took one dose can I stop it or do I now have to keep taking it for the next 5 days. It seemed to make me worse not better.

Just went for a short ride. Wife told me to get some fresh air but didn’t specify on how I should do that. I kitted up and went. Only did 6.66 miles, kept the HR under 100. She wasn’t amused. She thinks if I am on a bike I am going to be hauling ass.

bampilot06 do you have a trainer? That's what I would have done. For fresh air, maybe an early morning walk with coffee.

There's not a way to find a user by Strava segment, is there?

If you look at a segment in the mobile app, you can see the leaderboard for the day. If 187 people have traversed it, good luck, but if it's a low-traffic, there's a chance.

Symtons started saturday or sunday, tested postive tuesday when I took a test. it’s been 5 days since symptoms started. Work only gives you five days once you test positive. Am I missing something? I feel better just not 100 percent. And yes I am wearing a mask in public, yes i’m stuck in my room, and no I am not going to work. I do plan on grabbing my bike today but that won’t require any people contact.

I think it’s ok to go for an EASY ride. Zone 1-2.

Was raining this morning so no ride, instead went on a 4 mile walk on MUP with my beloved. I strava’d it so any of my stalkers can keep tabs on me.

I recall not feeling great when trying to ride- high HR, like, in the 150s with 160 watts average output where that would usually be 100

This was just fresh air. I wasn’t trying to do anything other than have wind blow in my face. I was watching my HR because I wasn’t sure what would happen.
