Yea, it is a power generation plant. They're in the midst of converting it from sea-water cooling to a closed cooling system to comply with new regulations. You can see the previous smokestacks behind the new ones in front there. I think it's almost operational now.
I don't work there, but I think there is a certain functional beauty in those generation plants.

I love the view from that bridge.
As to the previous post: Techno-grunge has a beauty all it's own, when you learn to appreciate the look of rusted steel, escaping steam, chipped concrete, and industrial lighting. It's interesting to sit on my roof and view the local Refineries at night, between the high-pressure sodium lighting, the occasional mercury lighting, and the light from the exhaust burn-offs...

...hmmm I dunno: "Not ... great scenery"? It's nice to me. Although the mountain vistas are undeniably spectacular (and I'd go there in a second), I really like the southwest big skies and open land. Besides, there are mountains in NM, TX, AZ... :-) And speaking of the Pecos, there's usually water in it down 'round the Sheffield, TX area when I go through.

After working a rest stop on the Starlight Spectacular Bike Ride for the last 5 years we decided to actually ride it! The Ride thru the Garden of Gods at night, with "NO external lights" was kinda spooky! The event was FUN but some of the "riders" were a bit insane about passing on both sides and racing in the dark! Those 2AM Pancakes sure tasted great, got home about 3:30AM. Sunday morning! The photo is my wife at the start line.

Lol ... did you try it? Years ago, I wandered into a shop that specialized in hot sauce. Some of the products were so hot, you needed to sign a waiver to buy them. Probably some kind of marketing gimmick. High on the Scoville scale, baby.
Here's one from yesterday. Warmer days are ahead!

Keeping with the industrial photo theme, my ride this morning took me past one of the first Superfund sites. https://des.nh.gov/organization/divis...ies/gilson.htm
Not much to see, but the sad, run down look of the monitoring buildings always strikes me as appropriate.
