Boy it sure is, very cool, don't think I've seen a Bstone like this before, wish it was close to me.

On another note you should also be looking for Univega's as well, Alpina Uno's came in a step through, refurbed one for my sons GF and am pretty sure it could handle anything you throw at it.

I may get some pics later.

Also might want to consider a Schwinn LeTour step through, usually cheap, plentiful and assume somewhat bombproof.

merziac my search term was "vintage bicycle", which is why I ended up scrolling through over 2000 results, and that Nishiki Manitoba was all I could find.

I messaged the guy on Pink Bike with the DB Sorrento; we'll see what happens.

Check rivendell; fairly expensive although the "Clems" aren't too bad.

Actually, I was eyeing the Platypus; but, like the Polyvalent Low Kicker, it's well beyond my unemployed budget.

Sounds like you would enjoy something like a Koga-Miyata ForeRunner Lady.
42-50-54cm triple butted chromoly frame and fork.

Originally came with 26 inch wheels with 42mm tyres but I'm sure you couldfit wider ones.

You can find some brochures and technical details in my scans in the Show us your Koga-Miyata-thread.

it looks nice but the seller doesn’t mention if it is a full ChroMo frame and fork, and I can’t tell if there is a RD hanger either. Oh yeah...... it’s way too small

Univega Alpina Uno that I sold a few years ago. Not top of the line, but better than average.

I am thinking along similar lines but want a tall Mixtie, but it has to be full ChroMo with a RD hanger.

Korina just how vintage are you looking for? style? and, how offroad capable/mountain bik'ish? i ask because i found an '85 (?) schwinn mesa runner for my wife at a thrift store not too long ago. it's a step through, and...yeah...it's low end'ish, but pull off the barrel bottom parts and double crank and install some good stuff and it's quite capable. here's a web image.....since i don't have pics of my wife's

Schwinn Mesa Runner - Broken Arrow Bicycles

as you can see, it has pretty slack/comfy geo. it also has a lovely lugged fork crown.....vs the unicrowns you've likely been seeing. i know it shows skinny tires (40mm), but it'll fit 2.3's easily.

I keep looking at those, but I need to sell a lot of stuff and probably my MAX framed Boarala before I can get one.

correct on Louis Prima.....his music was in the elf soundtrack...most under rated proto rocker ever.

well get busy selling (lol) these seem to fit the need for a tall decent quality mixte which are hard to find

late 80s Schwinn Mirada

I had 3 of these go through my hands a couple years ago. A blue and two of these mauve colored ones. I just kept finding them for <$10 at garage sales that spring. Not a lively, lightweight mtb by any parameter, it is a (very)solid relaxed mtb. Huge clearances for big tires and fenders, rack eyelets. Couldn't move them for the life of me, eventually got ~$50/pc for them.

I hung onto this one for a while as I used it as a 650b fixed gear mtb/grocery bike. I donated the frameset to the co-op after rolling a tire off while mtbing. My hip was not happy with the prospect of a 1.5m uphill walk, so I pulled the tire off and rode a bare rim home. Talk about rolling thunder.

That's a fun site; any idea where it is? Judging from the name and website theme it's probably somewhere in the southwest, but I can't find any indication of their location. Nor about how to buy a bike.

Utah plates. I'd guess it's probably just someone fixing//selling/collecting bikes for fun.

i don't know anything about it, honestly. once again i was posting for the web image example in lieu of personal photos. sorry. but, i have seen mesa runners for sale here and there. i recently saw one on facebook, but that appears to be gone now

oh, and the only broken arrow i know of as a location is in oklahoma. it's not actually too far from me, either. a friend of mine helps manage a bike shop there

edit: gosh....i've searched. i see no sign of them/a resale shop on the web, and their website no longer exists. domain is gone

Not sure when the Mesa Runner was there, I bought a frame from Casey a couple of years ago off efbay but his efbay has been dead for over a year so I think he is done.

He was ok to deal with but I overpaid so......

He was in Utah.

I'm 70 now and you never know when the swing'll turn into a clumsy ratcheting creak. Having a stepthrough MTB is not so much of an attraction for me, but good luck finding one. There's bound to be something out there for you.

I recently found this discarded townie that should fit just about any human out there. It's now in the fleet as the universal loaner with its 14" standover height.

Yup. Turned 63 this week so I've got a '53 women's Rudge frame set and this nice 57' Raleigh although it's only got a TCW for brakes so I'd need to sort that out. Not ready for it yet.

Not vintage, but...

Jeff Jones in Oregon makes several highly capable mountain bikes, which are designed around old-school principles.
his SWB plus spaceframe might get you close to your target. It typically utilizes 650b (27.5) wheels.
I rode the diamond frame version of this bike for a couple of years, and can attest to its capabilities offroad.
The seating position is more upright than retro mountain bikes.
anyway, worth considering, if your budget allows.

I didn’t catch if suspension was go or no go but if it’s a go, and if a Specialized Hotrock shows up it’s not a bad bike. We have both guys and gals version (guest bikes and a GT Avalanche). It’s in the middle somewhere.... silver and white with suntour suspension fork on both they go boing when they are supposed to. But overall not a bad bike. Saw a men’s on eBay, YIKES?$$ I’ll ride the men’s Hotrock if it’s yucky out, good bikes are for nice days 🙄😀

The reason I'm looking for an old-skool mountain bike is the 26" wheels. I'm 5'4", and that wheel size feels the most comfortable for me.
