polymorphself How's your experience with the compact rando bag? Any issues so far? How solid is the attachment to the mini rack, expecially on rough terrain? (after spending days searching for a suitable mini rando rak bag, this seems to be one of the only options)

I'm a fan.
This shot's a few years old — they do them differently now. Largish rando bag front, custom extra-large saddlebag.
Who can spot the mechanical fail in the photo? And I don't mean the paint being partly sanded off (I didn't do it!) (It's pretty minor, except you might die.)
The saddlebag is their normal large one (at the time, since changed) except wider, at my request. I need it to hold one or more wine bottles, also my shoes (big feet). I think this should be a standard size, it makes sense for a lot of folks. Especially winos with more than one pair of shoes.
Making it wider didn't slow them down, didn't add more time to my order. Maybe I lucked out, I have heard about long waits when you ordered at the wrong time. Not a complaint (of course), I'm so happy that they're busy, they deserve to be.

Do take note of the measurements. It’s definitely a mini rando bag, but not quite a mini as their photo might have you believe at first glance. The stem on the Expedition they use for modeling bags is just really tall. Here is a random assortment of pics. Keep in mind that the pics against the white wall were with the Velo Orange rack, it say higher than the Nitto rack I switched it out for (pictures in the rest of the photos attached to the mid-fork mounts).
All that being said, depending on how mini you’re looking for, have a look at this mini from Berthoud:
And this similar one from C. Brenn (found on Instagram), both are modeled after the old Alex singer bags:

I really love it. It’s extremely secure. I haven’t had it on any super rough terrain but definitely some light trails and some serious mashing and it doesn’t seem to budge. The Velcro is extremely strong and the tombstone fits into the back firmly. Also, I spilled an entire container of curry inside of it and it washed right out no problem with some water and soap, no stains and no smell.

Thanks a bunch, I will try to order it next time they have the availability window open. I only wish they were offering more colour options, black X-Pac may seem rather dull.

These are a pair I use all the time on my Centurion Pro-tour. Now with riser bars but still on the Mark's rack. Yesterday I took a 36km road, gravel, dust, and sand ride and it was great, no flopping around and both the compact rando bag and the tool roll were excellent.

I agree it’s a little boring but my saddlebag is black so it’s good enough for me. I do wish they still made the other two mini randos that they used to make, one was black waxed canvas with brown leather like my saddlebag and the other one was super small but long and came in a green and brown.

New handlbar bag. I think I need a custom fork for this bike, rack, bag, and dual pivots.

I keep my keys on a carabiner as well, I never thought to hang them off of the strap loop. I might have to try that! Usually I stuff my wallet and keys into the driveside rear pocket.
I like my Tall Rando a lot. One modification that I did was to get rid of the internal plastic stiffener and make my own similar to the Norther Cycles tutorial. I used 1/8" instead of 1/16" aluminum since that's what was available locally. I like it a lot more now - the top still sags a bit but not as much as it did before. Gives that nice broken-in look without looking worn out

Here is my Acorn basket bag. I love the color and the simplicity of it. It fits the basket perfectly. It’s tucks away nicely when not in use and has plenty of room for those small grocery runs. The Velcro that holds the bag shut is thick and strong. I love the interior pocket for my phone or keys. Highly recommended!

I got in on the latest bag sale. This one is a different design than the older black one I have. A little smaller, and no external side pouches. Nice looking bag though.

Got this under-the-saddle tool roll (or whatever they call it) from someone here, I believe, and have been using it almost exclusively ever since. I used to be the guy who took a bare minimum with me in a tiny wedge under the saddle. No more. Sometimes I even carry a spare tire in addition to two tubes and all the rest of the tire issue tools. Fits plenty of small tools and there's still leftover room for a spare battery for the NiteRider light.
Been using it a lot in recent months on the Davidson:
I had a cool little single compartment Acorn handlebar bag, but didn't like the mounting; it swayed fore and aft too much for my liking. gugie was consulted, but he figured a decaleur was overkill, so I passed the bag along. One day I will get a matching, larger bag for the front to hold the food, camera - and maybe something enjoyable to drink
