fbw tires
Hi I am new to the world of Bent. I am trying to locate tires I ride mainly on the road and I would like to find a higher pressure 20 inch on the back and a 16 inch on the front I have checked the popular online stores and not been able to find them any suggestions would be helpful. I well be riding a Genius cgx. I know this is not a high dollar machine but at the present time that's all I can afford I can't ride my road bike anymore because my triceps cause me too much pain supporting my upper body. I don't need to be the fastest rabbit on the road but I do like to put the miles on. So any help with the tires I would appreciate. And is it really true that the bent are faster on level roads

I use schwalbe marathons...they run at 60PSI...for a tire at 1.5 width, that's pretty high. I am not familiar with any others.

Look at Kenda Tires. They are quite a bit cheaper (and a softer compound) than the Schwalbe but have a number of high pressure tires. I have a customized Catrike that I ride with 24" front tires and a 26" in the rear. It had Kblock (off road) tires on it when I got it, but I mostly ride on the road. So I went to 1.5" tires all around. The rear is easy to find, but the only high pressure 24"x1.5 I could find was a Kenda, that runs up to 100 psi. Works great!!

Primo Comets come in a whole range of sizes and are fairly high-performance. They have a reputation for being fragile, but I've found that as long as I don't ride in junk (dirty shoulders, gravel, off-road, etc) they give pretty good wear and I've never had a carcass failure.

Sixteen inch tires come in two flavors which are incompatible with each other. One is 305mm bead diameter, one is 349mm. Ditto with twenty inch, which comes in 406 and 451 flavors. The sizes will be molded into the sidewalls of your current tires. Be sure you're getting the right sizes!

hostelshoppe.com has a pretty wide selection of tires for recumbents. Prices aren't cheapest but service is excellent.
And, as BlazingPedals said, make sure you know exactly which 20- or 16 inch sizes you need.
Curious to know what 'fbw' means?

If you're not sure about exactly what you want, ordering from Hostel Shoppe over the phone would be a smart move. If the first person you talk to can't answer your questions, they'll get somebody on the line who can.
