Peugeot Frame Pump Questions

I’m looking for a pump to fit my Peugeot UO-8. I know it originally came with a ventolux pump, but apparently those aren’t very effective, and they’re harder to find. I’m looking at the Zefal HPX, but I’m not sure if I’ll be able to use the bike frame’s braze-ons (downtube) to hold the pump. Has anyone used an HPX on a Peugeot or another vintage bike? Do you need braze-ons to mount the pump, or can it be done without the braze-ons?

CalEl , I just happen to have a UO8 in my garage so I did a quick test with a HPX-3. It's a perfect fit if you remove the bottom braze-on, or simply use as shown in the photo. It does fit between both braze-ons but is extremely tight, the spring almost bottoms out. That may be a good thing because it won't work loose but a HPX-2 may be a better fit. If using the bottom braze-on, you would need to remove the plastic form-fit guide, see below....

Oh that’s awesome! Nice color! A couple questions. If I don’t use the bottom braze-on, it will still fit if I mount it against the seat tube? Would it be tight enough so as to not fall off? Also, was it really tight when you mounted it against the bottom braze-on or the seat tube?

I’m new to this, so thanks for the help!

I used my old HPX-3 pump for a test fit. I just checked Zefal's website and they don't offer the HPX-1, HPX-2, HPX-3 and HPX-4 anymore, they simply have two sizes. You should measure your frame and check their specs...
