Riding gravel roads is now a relatively new sport...
Great. long live the gentrification along with a sudden need for expensive niche products and white collar competitiveness.

Interesting reactions so far. Had he come to BF and introduced himself as a new, middle aged member new to gravel biking, he would likely be welcomed by many.
However, because of his apparent wealth..

As a bored old guy, I can assure everyone that bored old rich guys don’t care what anyone thinks of them.
The guy built up some wealth over his lifetime and retired at 57 to ride bikes. Im sure that doesn’t suck.

I got a fever.
Well the great part about adventure sports like cycling is you can make of it what you will. Maybe if you are racing the gear will get cumbersome but if you just want to ride as you see fit there is no need to keep with the Jones.

I get the WSJ and always read that feature every week. It asks the same questions to all of athletes. Gear, where, when, food, play list. I have always enjoyed the passion of those that have been interviewed. What you will find is that passion is common among those who are successful and it is just carried over into other aspects of their life. I am sure as Bobwysiwyg wrote, if he joined the forum, he would feel right at home, you would have no idea of his wealth, only that he loved biking. I am a little surprised at the comments.

Dismissal of older people doesn't surprise me in the slightest.
