pump valve replacement?

My floor pump has a "smart" valve. When I went to pump up the tires (presta) air would only come out the unused schrader hole. It has worked before, and I'm positive I had it all the way on the tire valve, and it's always been a real snug fit, too snug actually.

Is it a good idea to replace the pump's valve? Parts recommendations?

Or should I get a new/better pump?

Thanks!

Try rapping it on the bench. They do have a tendency to get stuck sometimes. A little mineral oil dripped inside may help.

Many of those pumps use fairly generic hose/chucks. You could probably just buy a replacement if whacking it doesn't bring joy. (No euphemism intended.)
