Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

switch to this and you can save a second of two off your TT times from the weight savings over obsolete gold rings.

I have a titanium wedding ring. . .which means that I always have a way to open up a beer bottle. My wife definitely does not like it when I tell people it's the best part about getting married.

Yeah, ok. Until carbon fibre is no longer trendy, and the ring gets dated. Ask anyone who got married in the 80's....grey tuxes with pink bow ties?

I'd stick to timeless materials.

Same here. She tried to get me a white gold one but I would have destroyed it in a week. Plus the more I saved on my ring means the more I can spend on something else I don't need.

Hahaha--I saw one of those on a slightly chubby guy the week before last and asked him, "Cyclist?"
"What? Am I a cyclist? No. Why?"
"The weight-weinie ring."
"Oh no, I just thought it looked cool so my wife got me that instead of gold."
"Oh, sorry about calling it a weight-weinie ring. We cyclists throw that term around good naturedly. We love carbon fiber & titanium, but we're jealous when we see someone else with it."

Don't get wedding rings that can't be resized.

Gold/silver can be resized as they are ductile.

Steel/ceramic/tungsten/titanium/carbon fiber cannot.

Or get a ring tattoo.

There's also the issue of removing it in the ER in the event of trauma.

Mine is titanium on the outside like that, but instead of the carbon fiber, there are two black titanium braids.
Kind of like this only lacking the diamonds so it's a solid ring:

I've thought it looks cool, but I really don't like the inability to resize.

Why? You planning on getting fatter or skinnier?

Our wedding rings are titanium... removal would not be an issue as if you could not slip the ring off, it can be cut off while tungsten rings need to be broken off since it is too hard to cut.

My wife has not attachment to gold and thought a Ti ring would serve me better due to me working with my hands all the time and although you can scratch Ti it is much harder than gold, withstands more, and can be buffed out.

My wife has two wedding bands made, she had undergone surgery and some of the medications had caused some weight / fluid retention in her hands which made wearing her normal ring size impossible.

long time lurker, first time poster

I have one of these rings, though in the half dome style - https://www.amazon.com/Titanium-Weddi.../dp/B0027EO288. Figured the cost of a ring made of precious metal could be money better spent elsewhere. Plus I just think it looks cool, and my wife liked it best after we looked at platinum/white gold/yellow gold/titanium rings. I think it's more the titanium that makes it light, CF is just for Fredly looks .

Don't get wedding rings that can't be resized.

Gold/silver can be resized as they are ductile.

Steel/ceramic/tungsten/titanium/carbon fiber cannot.

Or get a ring tattoo.
I considered that, but with the comfort fit most of these rings come in, I didn't think it was too big a risk. Plus, at twenty bucks or so a ring, I can always buy another if my fingers change dramatically.

To each their own, I guess. My $0.02

thought it was going to be some hipster ground-from-some-steel-fixie part like a beer opener I have in my workshop.

OK I don't know jack about jewelry. And I do have a Ti wedding band, my original gold one got lost about 5 years ago and I got a Ti one off Ebay for 10 bucks and I love it.

Anyway, if a ring fits, why would you want to resize it?!?
