N of 1; 100%.
The reason I bought a cyclocross bike was to do the local cyclocross race series.

And more important question, how many people who own cyclocross bikes drink PBR?
Personally, only when it is handed up during races.

Riding like its 1990
My research suggests that currently 97.6% know what cyclocross is and 57.2% have participated with a consistent participation along the lines of 32%.
But that's just the 6 guys I know...

I'd love to get a cross bike this fall for some fire road rides in the North Georgia Mountains. Just may need a mtb to get through some of the rough stuff.

I'm not sure, but I wish some people would put up their cyclocross frames for sale. I've been looking for a good deal on one for a while.

I have a cyclocross bike for road riding in northern NM. All of our roads are "off".

Just like the road, I own more than one cross bike (including a single speed) and I race them during cross season and train on them during the off-season for variation in skills and routes.

Who cares?
CX bikes make good commuters...they're more practical than a typical road bike.

I don't have a cyclocross bike but I've done cyclocross. I'm buying a cyclocross bike, but probably won't use it much for cyclocross. Confused yet?

I see a lot of commuters on cyclocross bikes. I wonder how many race and how many just got it just for a commuter. When you get down to it they make excellent commuters, especially when you ride on rough surfaces

I drink PBR but don't own a CX bike. I would like one though, and I have been to watch a CX race. This is all useful data.

I've always liked road bikes that can run fat tires. Cross bikes are just plain fun regardless of what kind of riding you do.

A dude called my Rivendell a cyclocross bike the other day. I guess anything with canti-posts and drops is a cyclocross nowadays.

Cross is cross. Seeing as how my first "real" print ad will be in cyclocross magazine, that it's the largest and fastest growing sector of the industry, and in only a few years I personally was able to go from figuring out the rules and how to race to working in the elite pits during the National Championships for both the men and women - not to mention working pit at masters worlds....
....cross is cross. You either get it or you haven't seen it.

....oh...and that's not just "nowadays". It's always been like that. That's what makes cross popular - low barrier to entry (see what I did there).

i met a guy on the trail the other day riding a new Colnago Cross bike. he said he bought it in the box from some father who said his son bought it and never built it up.
don't know that i believed him, but anyway, he had ridden it through the gravel parking lot of a regional park, over a 80 foot concrete bridge and about 150 yards up a hard-packed dirt, 6 percent grade and stopped. i was riding my horse, and met him at the top. he said he was going to go home, it was too hard... i had to wonder what he was anticipating.

I have a specialized tricross. I bought it for to commute as there are rough spots and to take some of the mileage load off my road bike. I've heard of cross and seen pictures of it. Other than that, I don't care.

I have two cross bikes -- my Planet X Kaffenback is set up as a commuter (disc brakes, permanently affixed rack) and my TriCross pulls multiple duties depending on the time of year; it's my spring/fall slop road bike, and my unpaved trail bike.
I haven't done a cross race but it looks like a hoot.

I started commuting on a cross bike years ago and have raced cross the last few seasons. I will also drink any beer you put in front of me.

...sorry, bad joke
My cx bike has seen more mtb trails than it has cx races (2). There are a few trails at the local mtb park that are perfect for it and feel like racing a crit. Discovered that I need a lot more practice to race cx... my dismount sucks and I hate running. In the meantime, it gets used for something at least.
