Emax tuning software for Shimano STEPS E8000
Has anyone purchased a license and tried this tuning software? Looks to me to be an easy option to bypass the speed. I would like to be able to go past the 20mph limit and with this you could limit it to whatever you chose and they just updated it to work with the latest Shimano firmware.

You will need the Shimano SM-PCE1 tool to interface with the bike and its $135 plus the cost of the license key which I have not checked on yet.

hi billp91311,
I too follow this company for a few months now, but I'm very curious about your information.
Your post is from march 21 and 22 and in this post you mentioned an update so it should work with the latest Shimano-sofware.
At this date the new bikes with Shimano steps e8000 come with firmware v 4.x (4.28 I think)
The Emax-guys made progress until shimano firmware 3.x (3.98 I think).
As far as I know they didn't catch up with the shimano firmware v 4.x
At the internet-store it says "Out of stock" for quit a few months now. And at their own site they mentioned some troubles.
So please tell me, was your information on mach 21 up to date?
And if so. were can we buy it?
Many thanks.

I think this means that if you change the wheel circumference size in the program it will work.
...the new eMax Version 3.9A is released. Now it is possible to do some tuning also with the newest firmware 4.4.2.
Check out the actual eMax documentation for further information...
Right now, the ongoing version of eMax (3.9A) is not already completely compatible with the newest firmware version 4.4.2 of Shimano!
With firmware version 4.4.2 as well as 4.3.4 and eMax 3.9A, bike tuning is possible in a restricted manner via modification of the wheel circumference.
We try very hard to be completely compatible with the newest version as soon as possible.
As soon as we will reach this step, the eMax program and this document will be updated accordingly.
If you are already using eMax, it is strongly recommended that you do not update your bike to the newest firmware, otherwise all your modifications made with eMax will get lost.
If you already own a bike with the new firmware 4.4.2 or 4.3.4, there is also a possibility to downgrade your bike to version 4.3.2 and use eMax afterwards with full functionality.
A detailed documentation describing the downgrade process could be found here:
https://www.eMax-Tuning.com/Shimano-F...ersion_1_3.pdf
There is no functional difference between firmware version 4.4.2 as well as 4.3.4 and 4.3.2!

Reduced tuning possibilities when using the newest firmware 4.3.4 and eMax 3.9A
In this case the underlying tuning functionality is done via changing the wheel circumference in the STEPS8000 Motor.
Using that kind of modification you could obtain motor support up to approximately 45km/h.
The speed on the bike display will not be equal to the real speed then and the shown speed will be approximately half of the real value.
Also the shown distances on the bike´s display will be reduced by the factor shown below.
The minimum value which could be set for the wheel circumference is 1300 mm.
With a real wheel circumference of 2300 mm (29“ bike) this equals a dividing factor of approximately 1,8 which will result in a maximum speed with motor support of 45 km/h.
With a real wheel circumference of 2200 mm (27,5“ bike) this equals a dividing factor of approximately 1,7 which will result in a maximum speed with motor support of 42,5km/h.
With a real wheel circumference of 2080 mm (26“ bike) this equals a dividing factor of approximately 1,6 which will result in a maximum speed with motor support of 40 km/h.
The modification of the wheel circumference could be done on bikes with mechanical as well as electronical Di2 derailleur.
Resetting the wheel circumference to the original value is possible all the times.
