BBC takes a cruise in a Cruise driverless cab in SF, to mixed reviews. Certainly not relaxing.

Operating a vehicle and driving is what makes driving fun. When you get AI, software, electronics to do all the work it just becomes a dull boring experience. Just as dull and boring as an indoor trainer. Artificial dystopia and living an illusion is the future of human race.

Not even remotely the ultimate goal of science. It may be the ultimate goal of the human race, however, based on how humans keep inventing and then buying things that save labor and/or insulate us from the natural world. But that's PEOPLE. Don't blame science, which is a method for determining what is true by determining what is not true.

Wow .... there are so many people who don't know that, and ifn fact are thrilled by the prospect of being able to surf the web, watch videos, chat, and do actual work during their commutes or shopping trips. There are so many ignorant people who want to watch the beautiful scenery go by when traveling long distances on vacations and such ... missing out on all the joys of holding down the accelerator turning the wheel to stay in one lane.

Really, wolfy, you need to get big on social media so everyone will know how to live.

That's akin to saying 'riding a bike is what makes bike riding fun.'

Profound.

Not all driving is fun. Much of it is actually very tedious,

How about.... Driving a human operated vehicle is more fun than having some self-driving robot driving you around ?

City traffic can be tedious at certain times but it would be even more tedious is a self- driving vehicle...A road trip out on an open road out in a country is fun.

It depends on the drive. Some drives are fun and some are tedious. So it’s nice to have the choice at the flick of a switch.

What I find most tedious are endless miles of straight highway, with or without traffic. Fortunately my car can drive those by itself.

As someone who works in a tech-adjacent field, I can say that almost everything is far more complicated than the tech bros first imagined.

Yes, we definitely need more stringent AND periodic driver testing.

I'll take robot cars over the drunk, blind, crazy, stupid drivers any day.

At least the robot cars are easy to spot. (for now)
