You carry a little white purse. Not that there's anything wrong with that ... but why not at least a fanny pack? Or drip some housepaint on it or something, tool handles poking up.

I keep mine in a sandwich baggie in my back jersey pocket when riding (to keep it dry from my sweat and also in case it rains unexpectedly). For emergency use only just in case.
Last summer I went for a run and about 1 mile from home on a trail I badly twisted my ankle. Didn't have my phone on me and had to slowly hobble back home in agonizing pain. It was a Friday early evening after work so there was almost nobody out there to flag down to borrow a phone until I was already pretty close to home again.
Wife had no idea since I was planning on a 5 mile run and came back in about the time it would take me to complete that run. Now I picked up a few cheapo phone armbands to make sure I can carry my phone when running. Only reason I didn't have my phone on me that day is because my last cheapo armband broke and never got around to replacing it.

I keep mine on a lower shelf of my standing desk. I like to be out.
In front of the library I saw a bicyclist-impersonator (bicycle, bicycle clothes, cleated shoes...) calling someone to pick him up because he had a flat.

I have a Kyocera flip phone or as I put it "a dumb phone" and carry it in a belt loop pouch that is zip tied to the stems of my bikes.
Funny, the times I have made emergency phone calls for non believers of carrying a cell phone they've exclaimed HALLELUJAH I've been saved!!!

Does that mean that you plan to never buy/own one?
At least that is MY plan, as long that I can hold up to it.
As I told to others, who claim i can't survive w/ such, as I been succeeding w/o a cell-phone as yet: "I rather put my money in my bike that I own." (even more do it, when it be high-end cost)
There's a difference between paying the service charge for phone services vs. labor service on your bike. [as there be cyclists that not have as much tech tools/capacity, as others]
In such a status, I be a cyclist who be more concerned about the continuation of My Bike to continue succeeding in tech operation.
Coinc., as I only have 2 contacts that I have need of, if I had a cell-phone. But TALKING, during my time of cycling is NO PRIORITY.
Finally,
There be a difference in paying/investing for "service" vs a solid item that lasts for decades.
A solid item, like a bike, components, etc.
So let the fad will go.

I just got two of these. After years of cargo shorts pocket or jersey pocket, and occasionally clear map pocket of handlebar bag.
Since I have solar and 3 power banks I reckon I could run the phone like a cyclecomputer when I have the solar setup with me.

I carry mine in whatever pack is on the bike I am riding. I carry it just for emergencies. I've been known to tell others where to put theirs.

For road - I keep mine in my waist band in the upper right back/waist. It moved too much on the side of my waist but its perfect just a bit further back. I have a belt clip but its too heavy to hang on the outside while riding... I can squeeze it in my saddle bag too, but I use headphones for music, talk radio, and to make sure i can hear when my elderly father calls.
On my mtb, I used to also clip it on the bottle cage when it wasnt being used. Didnt move around and didnt interfere with bottles. It went in the frame bag during bad weather.

Cargo shorts or a backpack or a pannier work great for me. A little saddlebag is what I'll use if I'm not ridding with cargo pants or anywhere else to put a phone.

I'm thinking of going for something like this to keep the phone away from the elements and it has a little bit of storage under the phone which would be perfect to keep my keys and credit card. I'm having a hard time finding a solid black one with decent reviews and it has to fit a Samsung Galaxy Note 5. Where did you order this? Thx.

I ride with the smallest flip-phone I can find and put it in my wallet. The wallet is one of thoes fabric wallets that folds up and velcros closed. I buy a wider strip of velcro for the outer flap, sew it on, then the velcro closes with the phone inside. It is cushioned and not a whole lot of moisture gets in, even after I am very wet and my phones have never suffered. (I don't ride in the southeast where it can rain briefly very hard.) Being in a cloth wallet means that it has far less tendency to bounce out, a real factor doing fast descents on fix gears. Also (I figure) probably a lot less likely to be damaged n a hard crash (and has never suffered in the several I have had). The is when I may most want it to be working as I usually ride alone.

My phone stays in my seat bag. I only carry it for the Road ID app that she who must be obeyed is so fond of. In her defense, I ride rural roads and it'd be very easy for me to spend a good amount of time in the ditch with no traffic to see me.

I have a small "dumb phone" and carry it in a phone pouch velcroed to the top tube. Intended mainly for emergencies, usually turned off.
