WTB: 1979 Fuji S12-S LTD 23"

Very specific, I know. Will also consider other S12-S models if 23", but may hold out. Frame/Fork or complete doesn't matter.

Not your LTD preference, but had seen this pop-up:
https://www.facebook.com/marketplace...2516773654453/

And an S10-S LTD that's been on CL here for a little bit:
https://denver.craigslist.org/bik/d/...289526460.html

Good luck!

A good start, thank you. I'll have to see if the S10-S geometry was any different than the S12-S, as this if for 650b conversion.

I have a S12-S in what looks like 23" (CTT), roughly 22.5 CTC, 22.5 TT. Those measurements are from memory, so will have to re-measure to make sure. I'm not familiar with the Fuji lineup-- what makes an LTD?

Bike is incomplete-- F+F and a smattering of parts: brakes, fuji-branded nitto handlebar, forged fuji crankset, and other misc bits. Date code on dia-compe (g-500?) front caliper is 0480, assuming original to bike.

Im certainly interested. The LTD was double butted and the distinguishing factor would be chrome chainstays, the model name on the top tube would also say LTD.

Thanks. Likely non-LTD. I don't recall seeing anything after the S12-S designation on top tube. Chainstays didn't appear chromed, although fork had chrome socks. Paint was a bit scratched, dark maroon colour with what appeared like gold lettering. Got it as part of a local trade, but sadly too large for me so never ended up chasing down the rest of the parts and build up.
If still interested, I can bring it down from the attic and take photos this weekend.

I have a 70s era Fuji Finest with "issues" (and perhaps an attitude as well). It will need an OA bath and the stem is like really, seriously stuck. It will need some work to get it out. A machinist could do it. Or lye should do it.

It's white and the paint, chrome, and decals are all good.

It may be the best of the Fuji models though for a 650b conversion. It's a full chrome moly frame and it is chromed underneath the paint job.

I never finished this bike up because I found a different Fuji Finest soon afterwards that I built up.

While this scares me I will keep it in mind as I do know someone locally who could get it unstuck...

It's 23" C-T?

Yeah, it measures 58 cm CT. It's a top dog bike with issues, . But @gugie pointed out in the thread you started that this is a great bike for a 650b conversion.
Shortly after I started working on the White Finest and found out how stuck that stem was, I found another 70s era Fuji Finest that I built up. The bike rides great.

Chrome socks, lugs, seat stay caps, and panels really pop on that dark blue frame!

What makes these great 650b conversion material:
  • 650b x 42 tires fit without any frame mods
  • Fenders fit with 650b x 42, not a big deal if you're in SoCal, Arizona, or other dry areas, but a big deal if you're in the PNW or other areas wih lots of rain.
  • Fork offset of close to 65mm, coupled with 73 degree head tube angle puts you in right around 35mm of trail, great for loaded front ends
  • High enough bottom bracket, moving from 700c to 650b, even with the fatter, larger diameter tires you drop the BB a few mm, so pedal strike isn't an issue
  • You can get away with all this and no frame mods.

If it was blue I'd ask how much; I have a 72 in white and it is the nicest riding bike (PX10 2nd) I have. The blue on this and the later Fuji America are the best looking bikes and I want one. I still ride 700c 28mm but 650 may be fun. Picked up a Mighty Tour crankset for the hills of North NJ but that's it.

Nope, just got a hankering for a slow and probably too expensive 650b conversion project. These old fujis seem to be some of the better candidates.

No dents that I can find, but lots of paint loss as you can see. TT is 22.5 CTC, ST is 22.5 CTC, 23 CTT (not sure if Fuji sizes their bikes according to CTT or CTC). I probably have the BB and rest of the headset somewhere here. Let me know if you want any further photos.
