Ah, the drama. This thread has it all. Talent, praise, envy, intellect, ignorance, and best of all, lots of humor. Made me laugh.

I was considering writing a song especially for this thread. I'll call it...
Foobound.

I'm tempted to whip my bone out after hearing that. Trombone that is. I'll see if if I can come up with a rendition of Don't step on PCADS Blue SIDI Shoes.

I started playing 30 years ago in my early 20's. Took lessons for a couple of years, practiced like 3+ hours a day for maybe 3 years, then after that my playing or practicing has been quite sporadic, I'll get into it for a while, then I'll stop. Don't read music like a serious musician. I learned major, minor, pentatonic scales pretty thoroughly and the forms to map them out on the guitar neck, so I'm reasonably fluid playing solo stuff. If it's not too complicated or jazzy, I can generally improvise over most chord changes/melodies in pop/rock/blues.
If somebody is a natural on the guitar they could be blowing a guy like me away in six months. If you have no ability at all you probably never get to my level, which in my view is probably like a Cat 3 bike racer, something like that. Nothing special. I do have to repeat that I never play anymore, if I was playing regularly at all, my playing would be far better than it is in that video.

Saw this guy some years ago.... amazing!

Or better still this video. I love his subtle smiles...as though he is saying to his hands- "whooh ...slow down there"

True story:
In 1996 I shattered the ends of both long bones in my left forearm in a bike crash, (Colles' fracture).
The fracture had been set in out-patient surgery, and I was visiting the doctor on a checkup.
Me: "Will I be able to play the piano when the fixator comes off?"
Doc (suspiciously): "Could you before?"
Me: "Oh, so you heard that one before?"
Doc: "Yes, I fell for that *once*."

I have quite the repertoire.
God help me, it's another hobby I suck at.

I sucked at building model airplanes too, but I did manage to build 6-7 rather complex models successfully. I'll take that up again when I'm retired. I liked that.
But basically I suck at most things I try.

I shudder to think how many consecutive posts Pcaddy will be making when he actually gets snowed in.

Our snow banks here are over my head from the guy who plows the driveway. We're running out of places to put the snow.
