Rednecks and Bicycles

Well, I just gave bicyclists in southern Michigan a bad name. As I was approaching an intersection to make a left turn there was another vehicle approaching from the left. The truck was slowing and like an idiot I thought it was a 4 way stop. It wasn't. As I started through the intersection I realized this and HTFU. I wasn't close to being hit but the driver in the red Ram 1500 with the gun rack in the back wasn't real happy with me. He proceeded to make a U turn and come after me. As he pulled up beside me he managed to call me every name in the book and made sure I knew he hated dumb cyclists like me. I totally agreed with him and admitted I was a dumb a$$. I thought he was going to kick my butt right then and there. He did have a nice Mullet hair cut though, and needed to see a dentist. He could of been an extra from Deliverance. The moral of the story is to obey the laws of the road, keep your mouth shut, and in the future carry at least a canister of pepper spray, and be able to peddle away really fast. I'm good on all but the last.

I did manage to get dropped like a rock with the group I was riding with, in a short period of time. They were way faster than I wanted to ride today. I did manage to huff and puff may way to the end after 52 miles of pretty hot weather. It was 87 when I finally loaded up everything into the truck.

I did manage to do my good deed of the day. I fixed my neighbors self propelled system on his mower. It's now time to relax and latter throw a few steaks on the grill.

Bench Decisions have put several guys on bikes with 1 too many DUI's.

They never look comfortable on them, and usually get a BSO, POS.

Be very careful riding around Kennesaw GA the law states that you must own a gun in your home and many people live in their vehicles.

We were on out way back form the store yesterday and a Mercedes with a taped up right side mirror, with the right turn signal on and the windows down . It was 100 degrees and the guys in the car look like cousins of the guys in the video .

Alas, in Massachusetts, you need a permit from the police department, even for pepper mace.
