OCD is kicking in on Miyata One Ten

OK I think I'm crazy for messing with this bike. I bought the bike back in 84 for my wife who rode it a couple of times and never touched it again. It's been hanging from the garage ceiling since. It's totally original with the nubs still on the tires. I started by thinking I'd just air the tires up and try to wash off about 25 years worth of crud. Well one thing led to another and I'm kind of getting carried away with the plan. I'm currently polishing all the aluminum and just started on the wheels tonight. Last night I replaced the original bar tape, which pretty much disinigrated when I removed it.

Pictures to come when done. So far it looks pretty good. It still won't be worth anything when finished, but I just want to see how nice I can make it. When my son comes over we can ride together as this bike fits him well.

I sold mine earlier this year...it was way too big for me, but I still liked it. Its nothing fancy but its still a pretty decent bike especially if you consider how much it cost new.

I did the same thing with my college bike three years ago, a 1975 Peugeot UO8. It had been sitting neglected since 1977, moved several times cross country, spent time in a garage, basement, under a deck (ouch), etc. When I finished, I had a beautiful bike, that did not fit, and was nothing special (even though I had done many upgrades to it: three piece alloy crankset, alloy rims, alloy seat post, alloy bars, etc). So the last step was letting it do to another home. That's where the sickness started....

It's a ruby red metallic. It had black cloth bar tape originally unlike the red shown in the picture. I promise to post pics when done. I should have taken some before pictures as it looked real nasty
