@Andy_K : I lived in NE Portland for five years, I can't believe I never made that trip (except once, by car.)
Maybe as a side trip at this year's Pedalpalooza.

DQ, What route do you take to get around the industrial area between the end of the path in IGH and to the start of the trails around Hastings? I'd like to be able to ride a loop from Woodbury involving the south side of the river but have never figured out an easy way around the Flint Hills area. Sounds like there is a way I'm not familiar with?
Thx

If you read the last line of my post, I mention that I cannot ride straight through from West Saint Paul to Hastings yet. However, they are due to finish that last connector sometime this year, so maybe I'll be able to make that a Fall Colors ride. Until then, I just drive down to Hastings, have a nice breakfast in the old town, and then ride out past Schaar's Bluff and back.

Since I'm off my school bus (spring break... Yay! ), I just got back from a very harrowing bicycle ride down to the James River and back, here in Richmond, VA.
13.65 mi in 52:00 minutes for an avg 15.8 mph speed. Pretty much all downhill to the river and uphill on the way back. Speaking of the way back, I encountered some idiotic "good ol boys" in a white landscaping pickup truck. All I remember hearing is "Get out of the road!!! ...A--hole!!!" and they drove by me so close, I swear they could have clipped my left elbow with the passengers side mirror!!! Don't those fools know that there are bicycle laws on the books where vehicles are REQUIRED to give bicyclists 3 FEET of clearance space on the road?!?
Anyway, as seen below are the appropriate photos of my scenic ride down to the river...
My old C&V '85 Fuji road bike at the end of Riverside Drive by Richmond's "Pony Pasture Park"
A view looking upstream of the James River near the big parking lot and pullover area along the river.

Took a short 10 miler, looking for a new road, to lead a ride for my club. Using my newly restored Bridgestone 500 with Panaracer tires. This was fun, as I don't usually ride on dirt roads. The members will love this.... KB

I finally got a chance to ride the Tommasini today, about 45 miles. Cool but not cold, bright sun, minimal traffic.

^Nice! Is that a new one, VR? The Weigle looks great, too - the yellow Silca is perfect for it.

Just got back home from a nice 14.45 mile ride from my house in the western suburbs of Richmond, VA out to the big West Creek Pkwy business complex out towards Goochland County. EVERYBODY rides bicycles inside West Creek, as it's just a big horseshoe shape off Route 6 (Patterson Ave), and out 'n back is 6 miles. People go in their with their high tech CF Cannondale, S-Works, Trek, etc... and ride lap after lap after lap. I prefer to throw it out there "old school style" on a 32 year old '85 Fuji road bike! On this particular afternoon, I decided to crank down on it, and believe it or not, the looks I must have gotten from the others, as here was some middle aged guy keeping right up with them (..and in some spots, overtaking them!). It was awesome! 14.45 miles in 50:16 for an avg speed of 17.25 mph!!!
Here is a view looking at the end of West Creek Pkwy (at the end of the horseshoe shape) looking at Patterson Ave (Route 6):
And here is a view from within West Creek Pkwy, nearing the big 288 Expressway overpass. I had to carefully rest my handlebars on the wooden sign post, so my old Fuji wouldn't roll backwards!

Nice pics, nice rides! Another Italian, this one a grill, not a bike. End of the world road, a giant pirate. You can go anywhere on Rt6!
We held our Nth biannual CCRT ride today, Dennis to Wellfleet to the Atlantic, round trip 46.70 miles. No pirates, but we did hit the end of the world. There were seven of us on six bikes. Most of us had done this ride several times before. Sometimes it was cold, one time it rained and we called it short at about the halfway point. Today was cool and sunny, great for biking.
At the start. L to R: Top506, otg, spiker, my sweetie Sharon, Prowler, Gany, me. Gany isn't a BF member but is dating Top's daughter. (Ah, better learn to ride, Gany.) Top had fitted him with a nice Cannondale.
23.35 miles later, the end of this particular road:
A brief stop in Orleans:
At the Wellfleet end:
Lunch at the Wellfleet end:
Resting at the Harwich rotary on the return:
At the end, where we discovered that all seven of us were still standing!
