all the jerseys will be total battles. the intrateam battles with dqs, ineos, bora, jv, ef, astana and movistar should be interesting...

Wish Alaphilippe was riding in the Vuelta instead of committing to the other race in Spain ...that he abandoned after 90 km. (Remco Evenepoel won the race, btw.) By all accounts from the link below, seems as if he HAD to participate in it for whatever reason. Why?

The entry list shows the "Tourminator" will be in the Vuelta, but I still have not seen anything from him or Bora.

Elia Viviani's form seems to be improving. Surprised to not see Ewing able to contest the sprint today.

A lot of the TdF guys cited "fatigue" as the reason for abandoning.

Other notable abandons include Simon Yates (Mitchelton-Scott), Mikel Landa (Movistar), Tiesj Benoot and Tim Wellens (Lotto Soudal).

few years back. granted, a helluva rider but don’t remember him exactly having top-notch support. anything can happen and usually does in the vuelta.

I think it will be a GC slug fest but a bit of a short bus program for the sprints. Oh well. That's their program.

Olympic channel starting Saturday...live. Last parts of the stage but I'd rather that than paying for Gold.

I pay for Gold but your idea makes alot of sense. Gold's nice in that sometimes I can have it on to watch for the weekends or have it as a background at work. But often I'll just catch the race recaps off GCN on YouTube.

It comes down to $4/month though and is worth it for the spring classics.

This year’s Vuelta has more climbing than this year’s Giro and TdF according to NBC Sports Gold announcers.

I'm just the opposite. I'd like to see far less climbing and more emphasis put on courses that would favor all-rounders. It's a shame, that arguably the greatest cyclist of the last several years, Sagan, will never stand a chance at winning a GC because the majority of the stages in a tour favor the climbers.

It would be nice to see more all rounder stages. Replace the mountains with incredibly narrow cattle roads and walk paths. Pandemonium!

A great tour stage last year was Arras to Roubaix, where Degenkolb won.
