I started the frame up assembly of this build 8 days ago. That included rebuilding of the wheels using original spikes, and swapping a Uniglide hub body out for Hyperglide.

I gave it its first spin on the road 2 days ago, and today took care of a few mechanical adjustments such as derailleur action, a slightly loosened headset, a bit of brake screech, and a an overhaul of the pedal bearing assemblies.

Touch up paint on the 3Rensho, I think it's going well as it looks fairly good 3 feet away.

so far i took apart the headset, changed the seat, tires (one of the old tires needed to be snipped off so old and hard), chain, blew some air thru the cables and cleaned the whole bike it was super grimey, also I installed new grabon grips (not pictured)
I think the original chain had 113 links but now the new one has 114 and the issue is that it sometimes slips on the freewheel when changing gears but it could be due to the weird freewheel teeth which have like an indent in them and I had to put 2 master links in it since I made it 112 first which was too tight. The front derailleur usually doesn't shift into the 36 tooth gear, I'm sure its filled with gunk but the screw is on so tight I'm scared to break it and have been pushing it to shift with my foot.
Very nice, Vitus 888 tubing, Huret duopar rear derailleur, and a stronglight 99 crank. New 86 bcd chainrings are still available for this; I've ordered them from Spa cycles in the UK which tends to be cheaper than trying to find them 2d hand. The Duopar is a fine derailleur and takes up a lot of chain but you want to ease up on the pedals when you shift. That's obviously true for any derailleur but it matters a little more with this RD than with others. I used one when I did a cross country bike trip and I learned quickly to slack up on the pedals when shifting a little more than I was accustomed to.

I just finished a 1989 Specialized rockhopper that I shipped off to my nephew in New Jersey. The bike is 10 years older than he is so thinks the bike is old.

My neighbor recently asked me to build her a bike and I just happened to have an early 70s Gitane "Gran Sport" mixte in my garage in her size. So I'm having fun dealing with a cottered crank and simplex derailleurs. So far so good. The cotters came out and the delrin shifters are in fine shape. I will need to replace the rear derailleur, the front derailleur, the grips, and brake levers. I'm fence sitting on the brake levers as they are in good shape but one cracked at the tip but they are otherwise sound (these are plastic as well).

A Nashbar triple triangle gets an up grade. The original 27" wheels had mismatch rims on wasted Suzy hubs. Now the Nashbar is sporting Mavic Open 4CD rims on Mavic hubs, 126cm spacing.

Oh boy! New purchase. '87 Trek 560EX without any of the Shimano. Instead it's hodgepodge Campagnolo, Athena and Nuovo Record.

Just finished my Windsor project yesterday, and today I pick up this. When I saw the ad last night, it was just too cool of a build to pass up. The original owner said it's been in dry storage for 25 years. This was his commuter. Sorta a racing bike with a rack on it. He set up this lil bike with a 110mm stem and 44mm track bars! Need some tubular Campy rims, @Wildwood? I might be tearing down these wheels and building up the Record high flange hubs for a much older bike. Another bike is getting some Campy pedals and maybe a new bottle.

This. It came right out.
Luckily the stem is so stuck in the steerer tube that you probably don't need a standard size stem bolt.

Looks like you will still need a bag in a bag so the contents don't have to stay with the bag.

Hey I could have gone all Veloria with a bag in a bag. But the main things I will be carrying is the chain lock and a couple of bungee cords.
I didn't want to bang up the paint by looping it around the seatpost like I usually do.

The Carradice Junior is 9L but I also have a much larger Carradice Super C (23L) that I want to be able to use when I take this on longer rides.
Just don't want the Junior to be stolen before that.

Specialized Crossroads Hybrid . perfect city bike.

The Basso as received

Basso completed

And one that got away. I had high hopes for the Comec . Didn't see the bent frame till it was stripped and I started cleaning it. There is a wrinkle in the down tube just below the head tube lug. We salvaged all the Campi gear and will be sellling everything on E Bay. If anyone can fix a 60 cm steel frame we can make you a good deal on it . I am pretty sure whoever owned it repainted over the bent frame so no worried about doing the repair as it will need a repaint anyway.

Schwinn Sierra with black gold paint that glows in the right light. A real beauty

I have been cranking out bikes for the Bike Exchange to sell so fast I forget which is which. Here are a few i finished this month.

1986 Miyata OneThousand.

Been working on it for a few weeks after finding it on the curb for the trash man. Very original except for new tires, brake hoods, cables, etc. I did replace the rear Deer Head derailleur with a nice take off Dear Head.

Hope to have it on the road soon.

jbchybridrider Interesting technique. Do you use the threads as a visual guide for truing ?

I used a similar setup recently to respace a rear triangle that had been compressed down to 117m from its original 120mm. I placed a long threaded shaft between the dropouts with wood blocks inside the read dropouts, and nuts inside the woodblocks. Then I slowly expanded triangle/woodblocks by turning the nuts. Expand, release, measure, repeat until spacing was perfect.

I actually cheated by using my mavic sys wheels which IMO are the most balanced and true wheels around to set it up before installing the new wheel and used the cable adjuster to bring the bolt tolerance closer bit by bit. The frames chocked with wood in a vice. Used a junk fork for the front wheel drilling holes in the blades for the bolts. Truing turned out a painless job.
