I started recording mileage in the Spring of 1982, first on paper spread sheets and then on electronic spreadsheets. As of today - 237,878 miles. Average annual mileage of 6,145 miles per year since 1982.

Started in 1969 and rode off and on til ~1976 when life got complicated, miles unknown but was racing for a few years there so suspect a good
bit north of 20k in that time frame but pure guess there. Resumed sporadically in 1987-92 not even a guess there. Modern era 1996 to present
during which I have documented 148,000 miles. The frame with the most miles is my recumbent now 20 yrs old with 36k miles then the Litespeed
also 20 yrs old at 29K miles and the third bike now 5 yrs old at 19k miles. Departed bikes, a PX10, a CoMo Macchiatto and a Trek CF ~1996 model
year. There were a few others.

I only started tracking my cycling miles ~15 years ago when I transitioned from Avid-But-Infrequent Utility Cyclist to Obsessed Recreational Cyclist. While it's fair to say that my annual mileage since that transition has consistently been some order of magnitude greater than it ever was in any year prior, I have no way of guesstimating what my cumulative mileage was from age 8 when I learned to ride a bike through age 45 when the aforementioned transition occurred.
I'm just shy of 98,000 miles since the transition, fwiw.

Started keeping track of my rides as of Jan 1, 2011, when I got my first road bike. I was still working then, so the first year was pretty skimpy as far as miles go. To date, I have tracked 77,324 with the last two years being pretty pathetic for mileage. I have no idea how many miles I rode prior to 1/1/11.

I am 55. I started riding around the age of 6. I did keep track of miles back then and don’t now.

All outside
Since 1990
Up to August this year ... I need to add the most recent several rides.
105434 miles = 169679.5 km
If I include trainer rides, it's closer to 200,000 km.
OK, I was curious so I added my recent rides.

Dan if I may ask could you still run with the hip replacement? Most say no but I know a few runners who have returned or at least to some running. I broke a hip riding 5 years ago but was lucky it was not displaced and 3 screws took care of it. I went back to running in 16 weeks but frankly my runners dystonia keeps me in a mess most of the time. I can run at times but it is a challenge. It is almost like I sprint for 200 meters then walk 50 and repeat.
The surgeon that did my hip replacement told me to not run anymore. As you know...the artificial is a mechanical device...not biomechanical. So the more you run on it, the quicker it will wear out (and require another hip surgery). But of course it's hard to keep a lifelong runner down. So, I returned to a little bit of running. Really only 4-6 miles once or twice per week. That's all I really want to be able to so that I can jog in some of the local road races that I've participated in for years. I've also been a triathlete for decades and would still like to be able to do a sprint tri now and then. For a while I was participating in discussions on a website called https://www.hiprunner.com/. Obviously a discussion forum for runners with artificial hips. There are several people active on that site that have returned to running Marathons, and even ultras after hip replacement.

I started cycling at 48, and have approximately 60K-80K miles. Oddly I have a reverse progression from most, starting running at 57 and run more miles now than I bike.

I've been cycling regularly since 1973 as an 'adult', started using Avocet computers in the 90's (?), but have only kept track of miles on spreadsheets since 2009. Total since 2009 is 48,500. Most annual miles was 5098 in 2019, my first year of retirement. Thanks to pandemic, am riding often this year but most rides are in the 10-20 mile range. Longest ride this year has been 31 miles, compared to non-pandemic years with lots of 40-60+ mile rides. Probably won't hit 4000 for 2020. The difference is almost no club or event rides this year. Riding enough to stay healthy, which is a good thing.

Out of curiosity I totaled mine up today. I need to look to see where it occurred but within the last month I exceeded 100,000 miles. I don’t ride as often as some do. When I last checked my average ride distance for over a 12 months period was around 60 miles. That might be an interesting stat to compare as well.

Many years ago I tracked all miles ridden commuting or training. Got the idea from a teacher I had as a kid. His goal was to ride 100,000 miles before he retired. At the library one day I talked to the fella and he told me that it was foolish of him to track the miles as it became an obsession and he forgot about the joy riding provided him. He also kept every book he ever read and logged them in a database by author, title, and quick overview of the book. He stopped that, too after reaching 5000 books stored in his basement and had to dispose of them when he and his wife sold the house. I stopped tracking miles that day, but I do know that I was at 20k+ and estimate I have put on another 80k+ since then. Kind of a feather in the cap to hit 100k, but in the end it is completely meaningless.

I have also broken a Peugeot UO-8 frame on the chainstay between the chainring and tire clearance dimples.
Back to the original query: I estimate my cumulative mileage since 1962, when I took up cycling, at close to 200K km, or about 120K miles, including a fair number of hills. I am currently trying to average 60 - 100 miles / week. My one lifetime athletic achievement was a 12 hr 18 min double century in Los Aneles in 1972.

I stopped tracking my mileage by hand when I started using the Garmin. I just relied on uploading the information into Garmin Connect. I started riding when I was 50 years old. I passed the 100,000 mile mark on August 25, 2020. By doing some math and looking at the ride online at the map for that day, I was riding on Main St in Kannapolis, NC (right beside the Dale Earnhardt Statue) and on my way home from a solo 60 miler. It also looks like I have 4,100,000 feet of climbing over those total miles. My average ride length is 55+ miles for all those rides.

Roughly 138k miles since 1974, although the first 5 or 10 are just estimates. Might be more, since I didn't own a car in the college years.

Back in the '80s i tracked miles. a couple of 6,000 mi years, but about 4,000 until the kids came along.
I'm well over 100,000, but probably short of 125,000 miles
edit: this has been a pretty good year. Had almost 2500mi in 10 weeks of July/Aug& thru Labor Day. Maybe 4500 for the year.

I have an interesting question for us old fellows at this awhile. I am a long distance runner and that really is the background I come from. I still run but age and runner's dystonia make that much more challenging. I have always ridden and bike and used it through most of my running years. Runners keep a log an most serious ones can tell you lifetime miles or a good estimate. I can running and even on the bike give pretty reasonably close mileage.
So what sort of lifetime miles do the regulars here have on the books? I still have way more running miles that cycling miles but at present rate Lord willing. I will catch up. I post mine of any are curious, maybe no gives a rats ass too. Cycling is a bit more challenging to keep track off. I have manage 84,000 miles running over now 42 years. On the bike I am around 50,000 with most of them in the past 8 years.

Now, not to bust your bubble but if want a good look-see at someone that has ridden a lot of miles, you might want to check out Danny Chew. A 2 time winner of the Race Across America. He is called the million mile man and was around 800k miles on the bike before he had an accident that left him paralyzed from the chest down. He has a hand bike now, but I don't think he will make it to a million miles. He is the creator of a hell ride in Pittsburgh called the Dirty Dozen that is a ride involving the 13 steepest streets in Pittsburgh. To make the list, the vertical STARTS at 20% incline. His website has links to his log books and they are interesting to look at. He had a number of years where he was doing over 25k miles a year. Nuts. My 3k miles a year is like one month to him.
Anyway, just puts things in perspective that there are some real animals out there. Overall, I think you have done pretty good and you should be proud at what you have done.
