Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Like climbing into somebody else's car - "Hey! Take a picture of me in a stranger's Ferrari!" - you don't do it.

We drove through Pigeon Forge on our way back. Yikes.

We wanted to get something to eat and found a restaurant that didn't look super touristy. It was about 2pm so we thought that dining inside would be okay since it would be after peak hours. We were wrong. The host lead us through an absolutely packed main room, probably like 100 people -none wearing masks.

She sat us at our table, left, then we just got up and left the restaurant.

Good ride. Lots of frost out there.

During the ride on a downhill stretch i was second wheel and hit a golf ball size rock. I hit it fairly square and it got kicked up and hit the guy on my wheel in his ankle. He was ok. A minute later of course my front tire was flat. I made a quick change and we were on our way.

One of the riders asked me if I am now ready to go tubeless. Still too soon.

Yep. It's a pain even driving through it en route to the mountains, with all the stoplights.

It's a good place for families with kids to go, I guess, but I am not in that demo.

I just heard that the stupid rock from today’s ride hit my friend’s rear wheel and chainstay. Chainstay damage we think is superficial but rim is cracked and not safe anymore. See pic attached. Now I have guilt!

Isht happens. Better than the frame. And no one should be riding anything they aren't willing to replace, especially in a group.

And my yearly mileage is up to 4100, and only 380 to go for that Texas Distance Challenge. Hoping to get it knocked out in October.

Don't.

I mean, legally speaking, you, as an operator of a vehicle, are not responsible for for things on the roadway that you happen to kick up (as opposed to things that you're carrying/hauling - if you drop something and it causes an accident, you're at fault). Second... you were second wheel and your forward vision was compromised. If I were the guy with the busted rim, I'd be bummed, but I understand that it's one of the risks that we take and I wouldn't fault you at all.

Is that standard on a triplet to have the lightest rider in the middle? I see a kidback in the middle position on one of them.
