Bikes: "Hildy", a Novara Randonee touring bike; a 16-speed Bike Friday Tikit; and a Specialized Stumpjumper frame-based built-up MTB, now serving as the kid-carrier, grocery-getter.

This forum got me started on riding seriously. My commute soon turned into a folding bike/train thing and I did that for years. But it all started with commuting on my old mountain bike. I hope this song is a way of giving back to the community! People here helped me figure out routes, pacing, tires, gearing, and how to change at work.

In 2007, I had a moment of clarity while riding. Riding became moment of awesome solitude. I hit a really good speed on a flat road, getting my second wind. This was one of the first times I rode home the entire way from work.

A few weeks later this song popped into my head. Have only now had time to record it but I'm very happy with how it came out. The cellist on the track is a city cyclist, so it was neat to work with her on it.

on Soundcloud

Enjoy!

Cool! I never would have imagined a song would capture the good times of cycle commuting!

I lived in highland park for a minute in the 90s, at the end of my time at Rutgers. I think the house I was renting in was actually right on 27. Before that I for a few years I lived in piscataway, right near the pizza hut. Four Seasons Thai on Stelton is my wife&I's favorite restaurant ever. Their Moo Tod Rad Prig we have never seen at any other restaurant, and we have tried in vain to recreate it ourselves. Pad Thai on rte 27 is the same food, but (at the time) $1 more for all menu items because of nicer decor.

Very cool. I'd love to see a video to go with this.

That's cool. I think I remember you from back then, and that bicycling made some big changes for the better in your life and health then. It's great to see your still going strong.

Great song, thanks so much for sharing! Made me want to get up and ride, but it's cold and dark and dinnertime, so maybe tomorrow.

Yes, you should capture and edit a POV video of your commute and put this as the soundtrack!

+1 on the video! Is there adequate image stabilization with a Go-Pro? I'd think helmet-mounted would be better than frame/handlebar mounted.

I was thinking more of some live performance mixed in with POV footage.

That would be nice, but then he will need a camera(s) producer(s), video editor... the o.p. is going to have to start a crowd fund campaign, are you down for some venture capital?

Just need a camera and a computer. My 13 y/o does this kind of stuff. That's the great thing about today's technology; anyone can become a star.
