@mstateglfr: Cool bike - what's your opinion on the Gevenalle's?
I've liked them so much I chose to continue using them on this most recent build which meant choosing the brakes based on the shifters(I couldn't go full hydraulic, so the brakes are Juintech cable actuated hydraulic). Pretty odd- building a new frame that isnt cheap with uncommon shifters and not going hydraulic, but it all works well.
I like how simple the shifting is- I do it with my index finger and its immediate. I like the front friction shifter as it feels faster and simpler than any of my STI shifters(11sp ultegra, 11 speed 105, 9 speed Tiagra, 9 speed Ultegra).
Its dead simple to use.
The brake levers that are used are an older model than what is commisly sold online now. I thought that was odd, but they are comfortable for me so it makes no actual difference.
also, shifting from the drops may not be possible for some. I can, but have to reach when in certain gears. I have big hands too. Just mentioning this as it's a difference from STIs.
Also, I couldn't care if cables are in front of me or tucked under tape. I do understand many want an unobstructed front end for aesthetically though, so that is something to consider with Gevenalle shifters.
