Oschner SL Restoration of Sorts
Have an Oschner SL frameset from about 1990 and want to know if anyone has a clue as to the first year Oschner had these framesets available. Want to put period correct components on it, but don't really know the first year they were available. I do know they were still being sold by Oschner in the early to mid 90's, just don't know the first year they became available. Anyone out there that can shed some light on this?

Im not sure. I remember seeing them in the early 80s.. You can still call Ocshner Lake Bluff IL. and Im sure they can help with that.

So a search of the threads, I simply used Ochsner, and you will find past threads about Ochsner bikes. I have a 1990 or 91, not sure, Ochsner that I bought new in 1992. One thread is "90 Ochsner partly hibrid" and another is "Chrome Ochsner=love. That is a beautiful bike. Mine is the "partly hybrid. Lots of info in the replies. There are more threads than the two listed.

It's spelled Ochsner, and it's pronounced Oxner.

Seems there is consensus that the Red SL frames were available from the mid eighties thru early nineties. I have reached out to a friend of mine to get more specific info as he was friendly with the guys at Ochsner. I do know that Rudy told me back around 1990-92 that he really didn't know much about their origin other than they were Italian made. He also pointed out the Red SL frame, which I have, was batch built, and only one run. When they were out, there were no more coming. Rudy did not know the year the SL started. Figured there was someone out there that could shed more light on the Red SL frame.
As far as I know the blue frames were not SL tubing. They were made from Columbus Alle tubing. Please correct me as needed.

I also bought a brand new blue Oschner frame, Aelle tubing, with a Campagnolo Victory groupo, in 1985. It was advertised on a flyer sent to the bicycle shop where I worked at the time. It was the only Oschner sold by the bike shop ever, as they had it special ordered for me (at my request; begging actually).

I had one of the red ones for a few years. Going by the Columbus decal it was SL. Frame details pointed to the early/mid 80s. See for yourself:
Ignore the fork - pretty sure that was not original. I know I've seen the logo somewhere, but I can't recall at the moment.

My friend bought an Ochsner track frame in the classic blue in 1983. Ochsner imported some Tigra frames in the mid 70's. Somewhere around 1981-2 the blue ones were available.
