Dia Compe AGC-250 aero hoods?

I know this question has been asked on here at least a few times. I’m wondering if anyone has any info current to 2024.

Is there a source for replacement aero hoods for Dia Compe AGC-250?

Thanks!

I was looking for the same thing last week. I decided to replace the levers.
I found Blaze BL-07 on Amazon, but they are apparently old and people are boiling them to get them on.
Good luck

I was unable to find replacement hoods, and got tired of riding a beat up old pair on my commuter. I don’t think there’s a good solution available today.
I ended up getting rid of the AGC levers and replacing with 105 levers since replacement hoods are more readily available.
By the way, 1055 hoods are pretty darn good replacements for 1051 levers.

Oh man, that’s bad news. I really like these levers. They are in excellent condition, and I have the whole matching front and rear set, in anodized black even! The Royal Grand Compe calipers in black are sweet!

Not sure if I have the same Dia Compe AGC lever set, but the hoods on them had actually been the longest lasting hoods I ever had. They are in white, but they always clean up well with just pledge spray polish scrubbed on them, they had discolored (yellowed) a bit since the mid 80's when I got them to replace the crash damaged Mafac Spidel levers on my 84 PSV but they never cracked or split yet, after all these years. Thry must be made of silicone rubber, instead of the raw latex rubber they used on must other levers at that time.

For the moment I put on some white colored Shimano hoods that I had in the parts bin. The fit is horrible, but the color looks nice.

The only correct ones I can find available after 2 days of searching are HOT PINK. Nothing against pink at all, but I’m just not sure that color combo will make me happy. 🤣🤣

This is the issue, paying too much for old Dia Compe, or finding a generic that is still available.
The AME hoods were once a choice, but not much there any more.
The Origin8 Ultima8 looked close, but those seem to be gone too.
I'm not trying to get in the way of the OP's quest, but I'd like to find a source.

For sure. I’m not looking to spend crazy bucks for hoods. I’m really kicking myself now, because I probably could’ve gotten at least a couple of more years out of the ones on there. I had no idea they would be so hard to find. One came off easy, but the other one ripped as I was taking it off.

Hiya ,

Dug a lever out of the cave that looks to be correct ?
Is a good tight fit all round ,with a little lift on the front .
That would probably settle with use .

I have at least 4 pairs of these .
PM me if interested in more info

Here's one of the hoods from NZ on my AGC lever. The fit seems perfect, the rubber is still soft and flexy.

Thanks again to 1simplexnut for his help.

Ame still makes BMX grips in colors even.
maybe a email or letter writing campaign to let them know there is a market still.

My guess is that they stopped AGC hoods when the market got too small.
