t2p It's a 16.5" frame that I found on Facebook Marketplace. A guy in Bowling Green, Ohio bought it to build but it was too small for him and decided to sell it. He was glad to work with me and delivered it to my dad on his way to work. I'll be starting a thread soon. Here's a hint of the wheels I'll be using on it.

1984 Cannondale ST400 - "BB" serial number.
Just the second year that Cannondale was building bikes.
The poster was cleaning out the garage, and it was for sale CHEAP. It was his dad's bike and just didn't suit his riding style (Second time I heard that this year!) - and they ran out of bike hooks.

600EX components when new, but it must have gone through a major upgrade ~'90 with a bunch of tricolor 600, delivering click sifting, 700c wheels and aero brake levers
I cleaned it up and added a Blackburn rack and cage.

Just acquired what I think must be a 1992 R800, as it has a 2.8 frame with downtube shifters and an 8-speed Shimano 600 group.
It's been used quite a bit.

It's black, I think it's been re-painted, and I cannot see any serial numbers.
There isn't a sticker, and I looked at the chainstay and seatstay and nothing shows through the paint.
If they are there, what do they actually look like (I read how to decode them once I see them) and how deep are they, that black's coming off.

A long time ago I picked up an unused Sub One fork, still have it.
The catalogue for the 92 R-series bikes' forks only says "Aluminum alloy" - are they the Sub One and if not will what I have fit/is that worthwhile?

I finally found two bikes I'd been hunting for a long time in the span of two or three weeks.

The first is an R700 CAAD5. I was hoping to get an R1000 or higher with the nicer curved fork, but I've had such poor luck and the price was nice enough that I decided to just buy it. I have some Campy 10spd Chorus bits that will end up on it eventually. I'd like to try getting this one's weight down without going too overboard.




This one's still in the mail, but I'm very excited about it. A 97-99 T-series frameset\ has been high on my list for a while. 135mm rear spacing, a little bit more modern geo, same great classic look. I'm not sure how I'll build this up yet, but I have an old MUSA White Industries triple crankset that will be at home on this. I'm thinking at least a matching rear hub, possibly a dynamo front. There's a photo I have saved somewhere of an ST1000 with a 1" threadless fork, and spacers to use a 1 1/8" stem that looks like the VO Tall-stack. I think I may try to simplify the process by getting an Inni conversion kit, but the idea will be the same. Tall-stack stem, modern 31.8 bars. I also have a set of Shimano 10spd barend shifters that I think will be nice on this. I'm completely undecided on which cantilevers or derailleurs to get.

I have a similar H series that I never got past the mockup stage on. It's going to be a fendered touring style. It's even the same color green. I think it is the previous decal style to yours, and still a quill stem. The group will be a 9 speed Shimano, with XT rear. Brifters and modern style mustache bars. Maybe drops though, if I can find something I like more.,,,,BD

I'm a big fan of the wide set Tektro's in silver. CR720 I think?

I post this one every year. My 1985 Cannondale SM600. 26"/24" wheels.
Built it myself in 1985. SR Litage bonded fork, Bullseye cranks, Kestrel flat carbon bars, Pedersen Self Energized front cantilevers with Odyssey Straddle rods.

And it's a good reminder for me to get my 26/24 SM600 done. I went as far as ordering a new rhino light rear wheel back when they were still available but I never did find a hub with the correct dimensions to fit the dropouts. It was originally the dark green with pearl in it and I do want to paint it. Mine is all bone stock. The front fork, roller cams, the whole nine yards.

I replaced my original rims with Araya RM -20s. They've served me well. Maybe you can still find them? Original hubs are Suntour XC if that helps. I replaced the stock solid axles with QR straight away. My new search is for matching tan wall 24/26 tires (maybe more road than off road these days). Maybe SE Racing Cub if I can find matching set at reasonable price.

I just found matching sets of tires in 24 and 26 on Amazon, but they are black wall and have to be ordered in sets of two 26 in and two 24 in but they are $35 a set. I cannot attest to the quality of these tires either. They may weigh 2 lb apiece in fact they probably do.
One benefit though is you'll have another replacement set after these cheesy tires wear out.

1988 Criterium Series. Built frame up to fit me perfectly. Nothing rides like it. Totally intuitive. This is the 11th season. Still my main roadie.

I recently added fenders to my 90 ST400. I’d love to add panniers. If I could find a decent set in blue that I thought were reasonably priced.

That's a great- looking bike! Are those the original cranks? What are they? Are they Cannondale CODAs?

Thanks! I bought it a few months ago and all I’ve done is tires and fenders. And a paint touch up by a bottle mount boss. As soon as my project bike schedule opens up I plan on a full service.😉

The 1990 catalog lists the crank as a Sugino AC110 28/40/50. I’m 99.999999% sure its’s original. The bike functions great. It took me a bit to get the hang of adjusting the brakes though.

Maybe it's the angle but that drive side crank looked different to me. Yes, cantilever brakes can be tricky sometimes, but study how everything works and it should become intuitive. Enjoy the bike!

This whole thread is pure eye candy. Here's my 1986 SR800 with some cool black and gold Suntour Superbe I think this bike looks beautiful, but I barely ride it...I've been spoiled with 10-speed indexed, but I also can't bear to take it apart and modernize it yet. Cannondales are gorgeous in my opinion, and I don't need more bikes.. but I want more Cannondales!

My Coral 86 SR800 with more normal Superbe Pro has the rear dropouts at 130. It is bone stock right now but I'm tempted to go 6700 with bar ends.
Curious about the initials on the rear DS dropout. I wonder if mine has those.

I'm not sure if the previous owner got it from the factory like that or had it done after. The 86 catalog does tout an option for a bare finish, along with the pre-Black Lighting paintjob and Superbe bits, so maybe he ordered one but had them hold the black paint.

Very nice, 6700 would look great. I thought about going full silver on mine but I like the black/silver ratio right now. 105 5700 in black would be my choice. I did look at the 86 catalog again and it looks like your Superbe is unique with the grey anodized parts. A good year for Cannondale-exclusive Suntour kit apparently!

Looks sick! 63cm, too! Some tan wall tires would really set that off. Matches the gold accents, so you know, logically it's a must...
