Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

New 105 just revealed

Unless they plan on shipping it really soon, it seems like this would really bring down the value of all the 2010 5600 equipped bikes.

Under tape routing. Crap. Now I'm even more out of date.

That is damn sexy.
I'll be rockin' it old school this season i guess with my 'dated' 105!

Or.... it can be another thing reason to add to my list for a 'good' excuse to upgrade to ultegra

nice. IMO as far as shimano is concerned 105 is the best bang/buck option out there, and it looks even better now.

+1 I already have Ultegra derailleurs and a DA crank. Why not go all out?

damn it! and here i was trying to convince myself that i dont need rival and should be happy with 5600... now a new 105 comes out and my old 105 is now... old. i want under tape routing too

the hoods also look like they'd be more comfortable than 5600

I don't care about the under tape routing. Those hoods look like there's more room for the hands, and also appear to be perfect for a flat transition setup like I've got with my 5600. The 'old' hoods are ok, but those do indeed look to be better.

I don't think it is that "new." I bought the new 105 crank on line at treefort bikes in early January. Atleast it looks just like what is in the picture. It was llisted a 5600-SL.

I just bought my first geared road bike Saturday, the reason I went with Rival rather than 105 was because of the under tape routing. Shimano must be watching...they missed me, I will probably get very comfortable with the double tap and never go with Shimano. I wonder how much the hood shape has changed, Rival fit my hand much more naturally than the 105.

Oh I so look forward to seeing 105 bikes next to apex bikes in stores...

Ware,
Supposedly the new line of Shimano hoods are more comfortable. I think hood comfort has been hurting Shimano lately.

Hot damn, that is nice. I like the feel of the new Shimano hoods better than the old ones, and the under-tape routing is so much sexier looking. And it's lighter and cheaper? Gimme.

Wow - I just bought the Ultegra Roubaix and the cable routing was, for me, the determining factor.

Will now how to go n+1 on a 105 kitted winter bike.

Hmm..very interesting. Looks like a nice change for people getting bikes equipped with the new 105; the best part for me is the fact you can adjust it for different hand sizes. I'll keep that in mind if and when I upgrade my Orbea to the new Ultegra.
