Housing Trouble on Vintage Trek 720

Hey all. I have an 83 trek 720. I am running into a problem when I am setting up the cables/housing to the Rear Derailleur. The cable stop is a small braze on, on the bottom side of the chainstay. My problem is that I cannot find housing which will make a clean connection with the cable stop. Modern housing, even without any sort of ferrel on it, is to large to fit nicely into the hole in the cable stop. Any body ever run into this issue before?

Thanks for the help.

You'll need a step down ferrule.

An old-school step-down ferrule. They used to use them with old steel 3-speed type bikes' brake levers too.

The frame is toast. It's no good anymore. Just send it to me.
