What is a good sub-120 rim?

I'm looking to replace my 29er rim ASAP, any suggestions? I saw the Sun Ringle Rhyno Lite and other things but I'm a bit uneasy about buying that.

What are you doing with them?

I asked about that wheelset in the Touring forum a few months back, it got fairly good reviews for being a serviceable budget option.

Are you looking for just a rim to lace to your old hubs, or are you looking for a prebuilt single wheel or wheelset?

If you're talking less than $120 for a prebuilt wheelset then that Rhynolite mated to Deore hubs is pretty hard to beat for serviceability and durability. They won't be lightweight, and they won't be "fashionable", but they hold up really well. I would highly recommend taking them to a shop if you don't know how to check the spoke tension yourself, though. I'm using that exact rear wheel on my commuter bike as it was an inexpensive replacement for when I trashed my stock rim. It was pretty far off from recommended maximum spoke tension for the rim, and the tension balance was off, too. I had a put a bit of work into making things right with it.

I did not buy mine through Amazon, I bought it through QBP at the shop where I work.

After looking at them a little more, that Amazon listing is for the 26" Rhynolites. For a 29er you'll want these: https://www.nashbar.com/bikes/Produc...0052_557609_-1

Mavic XM 119 with Shimano hubs and Continental folding Race Kings.. a little more than $120 target but the tires make up the difference if needed. They have cheaper 29 combos. I have no comment on the quality.

Yea, I stupidly bought them and realized they were 26-inch wheels... I'll rebuy them as 29 inches.

Good for mountain biking in Antarctica.

Those Deore hubs always look sturdy. I like to polish my cones, but perhaps that's the Roadie in me.
