Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Gearing calculator

hey guys I am looking for a gearing calculator. I couldnt find it on google or sheldonbrowns web site.

Anyway something where you can type in the gear, cadence and tire size and it will tell you your speed. Do they have something like that?

Say like 50-14 at 90rpm with a 700x25 tire. Then it tells you XX.XX mph.

Thanks

I use this one and find it slightly more user friendly than Sheldon's...

Enter gearing and wheel size....

Submit values....add cadence to get MPH....

This gear roll-out chart can help you work out speeds, but you have to do more work
The values are roll-outs for 1 rev, in metres

I took it from the bottom of this page:
