Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

This reminds me of a conversation i was eavesdropping on between 2 security guards yeater day on my campus

One robocop thats infamous around campus for being a complete ****** to everyone, pretty fat, talkin to another nicer cop, regular dude.

Robocop was complaining about how he was riding the bike that he sometimes patrols on, and he was cold so rode around the building a few times to warm up.
Then he bagan to explain all pissed off that he was "overheating" as if someone did it to him, and how he had to call back to HQ and go out of service until he cooled down.

Wut.

Oh dear. The conversation with his boss could be a good one. "Honest sarge, it seemed like a good idea at the time".

Those are more than 1". I'm at 1", and those are bigger. Also, in Chicago it isn't uncommon.

Yeah, there's been a big amalgamation of like "hood" + "skate" culture with a dash of hipster in the last few years.

weird. i dont like this mixing business.

when i hang out with my hood friends they make fun of my lobes, just like the guidoes and the rich kids. then i make fun of their saggy pants, gelled hair and metrosexual clothing choices

if we all did the same **** that would be boring.

I blame Lupe Fiasco and Hot Topic, in that order.

All I can focus on is the older crankset with two rings on a fixed gear, the springed brooks on an aluminum frame, and the ridiculous price. And to add to it, it been up on craigslist for about a year now with no hopes os selling anytime soon.

Oops, didn't spot the dual chainrings and didn't know about the craigslist time fame. Yup, the poster is a dropkick.

Those sprung saddles are easy to buy and then realise you've made a mistake but they are also something you should file away, sooner or later, you WILL want to build a bike with an upright seating position, even if it's for the lady in your life.

As for taking a year to sell a bike, doesn't that tell you something ... doesn't it?

Stucco cement, stiffens the rear of the eight buck shoes for better ankle support. You can't see it but, it's also along the sole for increased pedal stroke efficiency.

It has a chain tensioner, so probably a single speed, not fixed.

So it is a single speed with no brakes. Basically a death trap.
