Shooting for 200mi total and to break the 50mi mark on a single ride.
8/2: 32.73mi - It was a dark and buggy morning....
8/8: 32.08mi - 1 :50 :48. First time over a 17mph avg!
8/11: 24.14mi - Dawn Patrol Group.
8/13: 23.67mi - Dawn Patrol. Final AM group ride for the year... kids go back to school Monday
8/15: 36.66mi - Urban Legends Ride. Only 2 riders: I was wiped out and he's recovering from injury... slow.
8/16: 12.02mi - Solo Sunday. Woke late, so short hammer-fest before work.
8/22: 18.83mi - Urban Legends Ride. Had a recently repaired rider with us so it was a low & slow ride.

Today was #SUFDAY Sufferlanderia National Day. Todays proscribed workout was It Seemed Like A Good Idea At The Time or Islagiatt followed by Angels. Three hours of pain agony and misery! On the trainer. #The Sufferfest. OMG it was brutal, I am so trashed! Since USPS did not return my Garmin yesterday I had to go by perceived effort. It hurt, lots! Used a Garmin 200 to record the time but no other stats. The ride to the Pub for the recovery beverages was somewhat painful.

Goal: Miles: 350; Climb 10,000 ft
8/2 46.6; 1353 ft AA ride
8/6 11.5; 443 ft
8/7 15; 963 ft
8/13 14.8; 1009 ft
8/14 12.1; 482 ft

8/16 37.6; 715 ft
8/18 50.2; 1394
Total:230 miles; 7367 ft climbed
Had some time off and got in a few more rides with the club. Lots of fun and a great group in the Masspequa Park Bike Club. Strong feeling with the sunrise getting later that my morning rides are going to be cut and I will be relegated to weekends only for safety's sake. Sounds like the turbo trainer will be back in use soon . Best enjoy it while it lasts.

August Goal: 275 mi (Stretch: 300 mi)
----------------------------------------
8/01: 11.8 (Group Ride)
8/02: 4.4 (Ride w/ Wife)
8/03: 14.2
8/04: 14.8
8/05: 14.8
8/08: 11.5 (Group Ride)
8/09: 20.3 - First 20 mile Ride
8/11: 15.4
8/12: 5.6
8/15: 11.5 (Group Ride)
8/16: 25.7 - First 25 mile Ride
8/17: 14.8
8/18: 14.8
8/20: 14.8
8/21: 14.8
8/22: 12.4 (Group Ride)
8/16: 26.8 - Marathon Ride (and furthest ridden)
-------------------------------------------------------
MTD: 248.4
YTD: 938.9
WTD: 98.4
Elevation: 5887'
Group ride on Saturday was good. Because a festival, near the bike shop that had some of the roads that we normally used, had some roads closed. We had to go a different route. Since I had been on the new route, and noone else had, I got to lead that part of the ride. People didn't mind the trip on the way from the shop, because the decent hill was downhill. On the way back there were a few complaints. We'll probably only use that route for the beginner ride when the streets are closed, again. Or a few riders want some more hill work.
Sunday, I went out to Lake Jordan, again. Did about 1.5 miles more than last week. But there was no group to hang onto for a few miles. There was one group, but they were going a little too fast, and on a little bit more of a climb than I wanted to try to push myself to hang on. I took a slightly different route on the way home, because I recognized a street name, and new it went where I wanted to go. The road was Green Level Road West. Well, it was green, but it wasn't level. It gave me 150' feet of climbing than the route I had taken the previous week. The one good thing about the route, was that the ups/downs were valleys rather than hills. This meant that I got a pretty good run down a hill before having to go up its sister. A few of them were still pretty nasty. I'll check out a slightly different route to see how it is, but I may come back to this route, because I need the work on hill climbing. As I said before, the hills want you to fail, but each hill you can ride up without walking is a victory for me. So Saturday's ride was the longest that I have done (26.8 miles) and the most elevation that I have done (723'). I know it's not a lot for some people, but when it's a personal best, you look at it as a milestone. Next Sunday, I'll probably be adding 5 more miles. This will give me a Metric Half Century, while I'm still 50 (I turn 51 on 9/14).

8-5 8.4miles
8-6 10.2miles and a get off. ascent 820 decent 818. I haven't figured out how the climbing works out differently since I ride out and back on the same road.
8-22 30.8 miles. I figured out that they garmin cannot keep track of ascent and decent. After my ride I turned it off then back on and the decent started climbing about 100 feet before I shut it off again.

Non omnino gravis
One week left in the month, and the Strava climbing challenge is done as of this morning. It would be a virtual impossibility to make the 1250km goal at this point (I can do distance or I can climb, I don't have the free time to do both) but I now have a mini, non-enforced hopeful goal of 1000km for the month, as I sit today at 872km done.

With the family off until school starts, I am fortunate to have flipped my schedule and now do not need to ride at 4:30 AM. It felt odd riding with so many others out and about last night. Having had so much time off I felt strong and well rested but also heavy so it felt good to get back out again. Got in 17.6 miles and another 671 ft of climb.
Another noteworthy item. Boy is it hard to gain mileage when you do not ride many days in a month. For every month that I have made my goal (350-400 miles) I have done 20+ days of riding. Every month that I have done less, I have missed my goal. Here I am again with a month doomed to less than 20 riding days due to vacationing, etc. and I am looking like I will need a few Hail Mary's if I am going to make it. I need just over 100 miles in the next 6 days which is going to be taxing. What I have also noticed is that I tend to miss the first day or two of the next month because of the big end of month push hurting my chances next month. Got to get that rest in especially after several days of riding.
Sometimes you just got to love a good challenge.
Goal: Miles: 350; Climb 10,000 ft
8/2 46.6; 1353 ft AA ride
8/6 11.5; 443 ft
8/7 15; 963 ft
8/13 14.8; 1009 ft
8/14 12.1; 482 ft
8/15 42.2; 1008 ft
8/16 37.6; 715 ft
8/18 50.2; 1394 ft
8/24 17.6; 671 ft
Total:247.6 miles; 8038 ft climbed

Behind again this month. I've stopped worrying about total distance so much and have been working on other goals a bit more.
502.6/750 miles, 20610/30000 feet climbing.
Saturday's ride was meant as a century, I stretched it out to a double metric to meet my next distance goal because I felt good after the first 100. Last 5 miles were tough, it was pretty windy (25mph plus much stronger gusts). Had my shoes too tight on one foot and didn't loosen them when they started swelling and now I have pain. Hope it's mainly inflammation - ibuprofen helps a LOT so I think that's the case.
If my foot feels OK for longer rides this weekend I'll probably make 650. Weather's supposed to be nice again. It's been October-like all week and it's a shock to the system.
