Unknown. He may want to carry an epi-pen especially if riding far away from civilization. I still carry one on rides, just in case.

That’s what happened to me. Not sure you can predict if/when it might change from a local reaction to a systemic one. As above, you may want to ask for an epi-pen or equivalent.

I dunno. I mean, I'm not in fear, but the last couple times that I got stung, the welt was as big as my hand and the redness extended beyond that.
... But that's still "localized."

My arm inflated from the inside of the elbow to the thumb, about an inch and a half extra extra hanging flesh which shook and quivered every time I hit a bump. It hurt, too.

Panaracer Pasela is the most popular tire in C&V. By a long shot. Personally, I don't much like them.

Huh. When I rode with PenVelo, on their Saturday and Sunday rides, they always did a no-drop, double paceline rollout for the first 8 miles, then the racer group would take off while the recreational/century riders would proceed at a more dignified pace. For me, that was on top of the 8 miles of riding I had to do to get to the meetup spot. They actually had a pre-meetup spot, 3 miles from the formal meetup, that included 2 climbs of about half a mile at 6 or so percent, so if you did that, you'd be pretty warm already - especially if you got to the pre-meetup spot a bit late and had to chase! Ask me how I know.

Yeah, we got 'em on the tandem. They're just OK as 26" semislicks go. Not nearly as nice as ye olde Specialized Fatboy 26x1.25" slicks from back in the '90s. Maybe I'll splurge on a pair of Rene Herse 26" slicks sometime this year.

I kept bees, briefly, in a former life. That was my experience and why I gave it up. Most of my stings were on my hands.
