Cyclists / peds who shout at you in busy streets for no reason??
Why would another cyclist in the opposite lane who isn't crossing nor anything or a pedestrian walking alongside the road shout at you??
Less than half of the time, I see they are simply making friendly greeting. BUT in a busy street / intersection!!
Naturally, I don't even give them a glance and just focus on the road, watching for potholes, sewer covers, etc, and for motorists that might pull to my lane or pass me from behind. They're probably take me for a snob but seriously, why distract someone in the wrong place?

Probably yelling, “nice bum”.
Or, you look like a bum, fix that hole in your shorts.

People in my neighborhood are always shouting about something. Usually at the aliens and voices in their heads. I don't assume it's about me. Although one time a street guy I'd chatted with before -- when I realized he was schizophrenic and hallucinating -- hollered "Damn you, Russian!"

Maybe it’s, “Hey dude, you’re riding with a broken stem!”

Shouting on the streets should be made illegal just like jaywalking. It's quite distracting if you can hear it aloud (problem for any two-wheeler).
Many of them are friendly but still doesn't change the fact, it's quite distracting. I think it's probably location - specific. The richer-looking neighbhorhoods or cyclists they tend to be quiet.

They're probably yelling at you to get off the road: Hey cyclist, get off the road. You don't belong on the road. That's a gravel bike and this is a paved road.

I've read your posting for a while now. This is the first time I think I've seen your monster in it's full glory
1. I like the ugly-ification
2. I was always hoping you weren't serious about the seatpost.
3. If you want a stem that fits your bike, I'll send you one. How much does postage to the Philippines cost?
4. I honestly thought your bike was even worse than pictured. I'd actually ride that thing. For a little while anyway.

it's a psychological test to see if you'll respond while you smack a pothole to create a taco.
or because they are just acknowledging your existence.

I had a cyclist shout WOOHOOO at the top of his lungs shortly after I passed him. He was riding with a small group of riders so I don't believe it had anything to do with me, but startled the snot out of me with his Michael Jackson voice.
You would think people would be smarter than that but it happens.
