I Couldn't Help It.....Presta Valve Covers
I just think these little things are so cool. Alum presta valve covers. Had to order them.
I had a goldish yellow bike a few years ago. I had bought a tube that came with a gold plastic cap that I liked so I was able to keep it for about 5 years. Till one night, I had a flat on the road. Stopped in a grass section of a park I was near to do the repair. It flipped away and I was unable to find it. But I really liked it and didn't realize they made them in aluminum. Searching ebay the other day for little stuff, I came across these.
If I can keep them for 5 years like the little plastic one, I'll be happy! I ordered these colors, should cover my bike collection.

Do you also have curb feelers on your Olds Delta 88?

Very cool! My son leaves the covers off his Presta valves, he says to save weight. I couldn't tell whether he was pulling my leg, but he sounded serious, and definitely is riding without the covers. I'm keeping the plastic ones on my bike even though the added weight is surely slowing me down. I've often wondered whether my son is faster than me, and this might be one reason.

They need to make a version that is more aero-shaped.

I’m about to start marketing spoke protectors (dork discs) that look like DVDs of old 80s movies. Some will also be made to look like old-school ViewMaster discs. I’m gonna be rich!

I like the idea as a way to give your bike a bit of individuality. I like my bike a lot, but it looks almost exactly like it did when I bought it. I've put different tires on it and changed the cassette size (not really noticeable when you're looking at the bike) and I wouldn't mind personalizing the look a bit. Those valve covers are one easy way.

the reason for the covers is to protect the tube rubber from the rough end of the valve when it's flat and folded up in your seat bag, etc. Once mounted on a wheel it serves no purpose.

Nice! But I myself stay away from Amazon. Loooong delivery time. I've had to wait up to 1.5 months for a part that I ordered on ebay by a fast free shipping outfit that came before my Amazon part. Same identical part. But Amazon kept trying to get me to pay an extra charge to speed up the process. Even though it was expedited by Amazon and I upped my order to over $25 for fast shipping. I don't have prime and don't want it so it's a rip.
Ebay had/has a fast free shipping logo on some of their items. If they are late, they give you a $5 gift card for next purchase. I got one and my item was only 1 day late.
1 order out of 20 was late over the last year on ebay, and only one day. I can wait for nearly 2 months on Amazon and lots of pressure to uprgrade, or get it in 4 or 5 days on ebay, fast and free! ;-)

Yes, and those little nuts serve a purpose as well. I know a gang of riders who complain about destroying their stems while pumping up the tires. 15 seconds to put the screw on saving the tube stem. I do remove them and place them in the bag while riding though. I don't want them to rattle or tighten too much putting extra stress on the stem.

I found one the other day while cleaning. It took me a while to remember what it was. I actually got some with some tubes int he past, but forget which tubes they were. I see nothing wrong with using them if one wants.

On classic bikes, they look OK. I have caps made of steel and they look sharp on the bike.
On modern bike I would consider them only if regularly riding in muddy conditions, never mind outright mud.

I bought an assortment pack a few years ago. Slow shipping but who cares, it's not like I needed them immediately.
On the Spectrum, black valve covers

Really digging the matching Silca pump
On the Ironman, silver (if I had pink, they'd be there)

On the Tallerico, red for the Stan's wheelset and gold for the Open Pros.

The Trek has green obviously.

The Voodoo looks good in blue

The question becomes, with all the colors colors taken, what to put on the new bike? I think I only have purple left and that's not going to work.

Soon to be on the road or dirt or something

That extra weight is going to cost you on climbs.
