attaching a head badge
Are head badges ever soldered or brazed on?
In the clip below Eric Marth uses an industrial 2 faced tape to attach a brass or bronze BStone head badge. Maybe 3/4 of the way through.
that got me wondering can a simple low temp solder be used for attaching cosmetic bits. Like a copper or brass head badge.
i have some reluctance to drill and thread holes in the head tube. I know it’s done. But I’ve got visions of cracks propagating from the drilled holes.

I'd rather use a 2-part epoxy than solder.
I don't think you should worry about a head tube cracking from little holes.

I too wouldn't worry about correctly drilled holes. Especially no larger than they need to be for a head badge fastener. And the right double sided adhesive tape is stronger than you think when properly applied.

Agreed that the tiny holes in the mid section of a head tube shouldn't be a stress riser to any amount. "Drive Screws" are what many use to attach various name plates and such in industry.
Many small scale builders do braze on their badges. I use 56% silver for the stainless steel, water jetted, ones I have. However quality double sided tape will do a good job if the badge has a smooth backside and won't risk discoloring any enameling or paint. Andy

I always use 3M VHB tape to attach my head badges. I've never had one fall off and they are not easy to get off for refinishing.
