FS: Early 60's Frejus Tour de France, 60cm

This bike was an interesting project, but never gets ridden (Strava tells me I've ridden it 80.5 miles, maybe I've got 100 miles), and I could use the space, so I think it's time to pass it along to its next steward. I'm asking $400 plus actual shipping cost, net to me. Payment by PayPal is preferred. Willing to drive a couple hours from my home in the Chicago area to make the exchange in person.

Here's what it looks like today:

In its earlier life it endured all sorts of minor insults, but seems to have escaped mostly unscathed. I tried to remedy most of them. Here's what it looked like when I bought it:

My understanding is that it sat unused and unloved in a dry basement for about 30 years before it arrived on my doorstep (I didn't even have to pick it up).
Here's its current configuration:
  • Frame #104060 (60cm seat tube ctt, 58cm top tube ctc), Simplex dropouts, likely early 60s given the serial number, despite not having Campagnolo dropouts *
  • Frejus-branded cottered crank (Magistroni?), 50/47 *
  • Magistroni bottom bracket *
  • KKT Pro Ace pedals (look the part, way too new for the bike)
  • Simplex Raid Export 32 rear derailleur (replaced a fragile Juy 61 derailleur which I still hope to revive someday)
  • Simplex front derailleur (LJ23? all metal, no Delrin!) *
  • Simplex shift levers *
  • Regina G.S. Corse 14-28 freewheel
  • Campagnolo Record hubs laced to AVA tubular rims, Continental Competition 22mm tubular tires
  • Balilla script center pull brakes *
  • Balilla Tipo Corsa brake levers
  • Frejus-branded headset (Magistroni? Stronglight?) *
  • TTT Touriste handlebars and TTT stem (90mm) *
  • Selle Italia saddle with Rudi Mayr reproduction top (stamp is for an older Frejus saddle)
  • Unknown seatpin (26.6mm) with Ideale clamp
  • Arbar (as I recall, from Colombia) water bottle cage

Items marked with an asterisk are (I believe) original to the bike. The frame appears to have been fully chromed when new, as evidenced by the chrome revealed by the stripped paint where the shift levers slid down at some point in the past. The chrome is in decent shape for its age.

Not shown, but included with the bike are some reproduction Vittoria brake hoods (which might need a small amount of surgery to fit the Tipo Corsa levers) and a couple rolls of Newbaum's light blue handlebar tape.

Here are a few more pix taken today:

I have a Flickr album with far more photos than I think anyone would need, but if you'd like more pictures, let me know. I'm happy to oblige.

I love the war wound patina, Skip. Good job on resisting the full makeover. Paint is fantastic despite the minor imperfections.

Frejus saddle and headset are awesome as well.
