Apparently they have a 25 pound limit for personal shipping, and the box is now at 31#...
Will stop off at the PO after work or early tomorrow, apologies for the one day delay
A day won't hurt. Did you post a pic of your take as yet?

Wow, that is about five pounds more than the average. Usually, it is around 25-26 pounds, tightly packed. Congrats for raising the bar.

Once I shipped an entire transmission's worth of gears and shafts (including the diffy, ring, and pinion) out of a 1974 SAAB 99, in a large flat rate box. It was just under the absolute weight limit, which is 70lbs.

Sent on Saturday and on the way to Mad Honk by Tuesday.

I recently went through my piles and had plenty to contribute. Had to repack 3 times to make it fit. Took out some dupes where I had one in better condition and took a few items which I may not need right away to get all my goodies in.

In the previous pics I saw a cover but none was to be found when received. Anyway here's my big take and happy holidays to my BOC pals.

The USPS lady mentioned getting a new box next time and I was afraid she couldn't lift the 30lbs 8ozs it ended up at. Some really interesting items, definitely interested in doing this again in a few months

LOL, that was my first job out of school, but still cherish my bench chemist days
I don't have a Schwinn but this is going on a Bob Jackson as window dressing. I was going to use Benotto, but the sour apple jolly rancher color really appeals to me. If I run out, I'll be sure to reach out. thank you and happy holidays

You guys have really done it this time! The much revered Box O'Crap has gained weight and has it's size raised above the limits of postal codes. It looks like me on steroids at the waist. It arrived late this afternoon requiring my postal lady to drive it to my door as it was too heavy for her to heft. And if you will notice it has been shipped to tatters! I am about to open it up and remove enough crap to lighten it's weight and size. I feel like a surgeon about to remove enough "innerds" to make this Box O' Crap, a fit and reliably ready to 'soldier on' item. Just wait and see what the new and improved Box O' Crap looks like after I get done with it! Smiles, M

Indeed, it is still a thing! Some might even say it's THE THING! You have been added back to the list.

You know the Box O' Crap may be a great thing, but do you all know what is even better?? Being the Crapmaster!! People will call you Sir and bow at your feet. If anyone is interested in being the new exalted one, please let me know and I can hook you up! You will probably run unopposed for the position, a shoe in even!

SS,Thanks!
It was my name and addy that showed up in the pic, and I am not very upset about the information about me getting out and about. I am a professional in the golf world and what I do with golf clubs, is my business. And in that business, name recognition is everything. So I have spent twenty plus years of trying to get my name out in front of the buying public. I spent countless dollars getting to the point that I am in a golf equipment hall of fame, just to drive business to my door. So for me, more who know me, the better. But I get the point about not letting others info out to the web.

I spent fifteen minutes not trying to save $ on insurance but by cutting a pair of plexi-glass sheets to cover the top and bottom of the BOC so it can't be overloaded, and will retain it's shape.
Now about the Box O' Crap I will once again post pics:

I'd suggest dropping the other parts at the Columbus bike co-op next time you're out that way. I see plenty of usable parts: https://www.bikeco-op.org/

I can drive them to Columbus in a 1.5 hour trip, or go to the Bloomington co-op in 10 minutes. Which would you do? Now if you want any of the crap, just let me know... Smiles, MH BTW it took about two hours of work to save the bottom bracket spindle. A bit of PB blaster from both sides and some blue wrenching. Then a serious drilling with some Snap-On left handed drill bits and two easy outs. hopefully some simple polishing of the races and it will be working again. Sometimes it takes a few hours but the stuff from BOC rocks!

BOC has landed, according to USPS tracking, but it's at my workplace so I'll get to it the day after Christmas. No worries about it sitting out - receiving dept. has a halfday today. My heart goes out to those poor souls, although I have an arguably worse fate this Christmas eve, going to spend an evening in a house where relatives smoke cigarettes indoors . No amount of eggnog can help that, so I'll have to clear my lungs on the Vitus later.

Actually way more excited about the box o crap than about the holiday

Seasons greetings
S
