Looks like a nice ride. I have family in Reno, so maybe I'll add this to my "future ride" list.

Never done the official ride, but done the entire route and have been up at the lake on the official ride day. Its a zoo. The roads around tahoe are narrow to say the least.
This is not a slam on the ride by any means, as with 100s of bikes on the road the cars do slow down and its a widely known event. The best part is that the road at emerald bay is closed for about 4 hours if I remember correctly to let bikes through the really scary part (assuming there are cars on the road). Its a saddle thats about 100 yards long with no guard rails and steep falls off both sides.
Its one of the most scenic routes you'll ever take and really the climbing is spread out and none of it is super steep. Of course its all at altitude between (my guesses) 6200-7000. the one climb up to the saddle is probably the steepest but pretty short. The climbs up to to dl bliss state park is probably the longest climb and the climb up to spooner on the east side is next.
just be mentally ready for the fact there will be lots of cars and a narrow road and you see down the cliffs lol.

I've motorcycled around Lake Tahoe a few times and the traffic is unreal. I actively avoid this route. I echo the comments that is is very scenic, but the road itself is badly overloaded and overdeveloped. IMHO, it's not super technical or dangerous so you'd have to be doing something pretty silly to get into trouble - your biggest issue with be traffic. They've been doing this ride long enough that I'm sure it will be manageable, but I wouldn't have any expectation of a relaxing ride on remote roads of the west.

if you want PM me and I will get you my phone number or email. If you want me to map you out some training rides up there that are no where near as crowded, but have climbing and altitude (as well more cool stuff to look at) let me know.
Hydration out here is key. Coming from a humid environment at sea level to a dry environment at 6200 feet lake level means you will scale up like a snake lol.
Bring lotion
I know almost every back road within 50 miles of the place....happy to help.

Sounds great thanks man. I thought about getting some riding in before the ride but concerned about wearing out my legs. Will keep pushing the fluids for sure. The climates will be complete opposite that will take some getting use to will bring plenty of lotion.thanks again man will pm you if I feel up to some early riding.
