I think some people reading way too much into the ad. Here are some of the other ads that are part of the same campaign:

The ads seem targeted toward people who...spend time outdoors in San Francisco.

And designed by an agency that has no idea of how to get a point across without endless misinterpretation.

Enough complaints bombarding their PR department (as opposed to complaining about it here) might result in some action. Post the last photo on a jogging/running/walking website - that should get those hobbyists riled up.

I hope this was sarcastic. In isolation, the ad is somewhat ambiguous, but it wasn't run in isolation. Chase was catering to us. Let's not slap them on the hand. Someone else pointed out that he rides through the Chase drive-thru. Another plus.

Thanks, Chase!

Actually, Chase Bank, like other huge enterprises, does not care about any sort of people. They cannot. Long ago their size cost them that capacity.

Regardless of the ad's intent, Chase is NOT a really good bank.

At least they give the cyclist shown credit for being able to to carry his ride.

Because they are insinuating that he has zero ability to ride it.

The ad is obviously intended for those who want to purchase a new bike. Considering the cost of a new bike, a 5 year loan is now required to buy one. (My first brand new car cost less than one of my bikes, and I didn't get my first new car until 1988).

My first car was an 1988.

Of course, that was the end of 1999
