Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Heart run v. swim v... cycling?

Exercised-induced heart changes?

Interesting article about small differences between heats of runners vs. swimmers.

https://www.frontiersin.org/articles...018.01700/full

Based on the findings and coming to them with a basic understanding that the body is too smart NOT to efficiently adapt to a constant stress, if the discussion about the energy to fill the left ventricle is perhaps effected by body position (e.g., upright vs. supine), my guess is that cyclists might be expected to fall between runners and swimmers... e.g., all exhibiting relatively larger left ventricles that fill more efficiently than average but runners more so than swimmers. and probably more so than cyclists, but cyclists being more so than swimmers...

The difference is because runners drink more alcohol than swimmers.
Strange how these Phd's come up with all sorts of elaborate reasons when the answer is so obvious.

True, you won't drown when you pass out.

+1 by a long shot. All 4 limbs are working hard at the same time.

I can go further in the same amount of time on my bike that they can run or swim. Makes a difference to my perception of accomplishing something and being able to see different scenery.

Swimmers are crazy! Yeah, they definitely take the cake.

Either way, for run vs. bike.......you can't throw as much equivalent workout intensity at run as you can on the bike. You'd injure yourself.

You can train for a 10mi time trial on the bike by doing lots of really tough gasping intervals. Pursuits, 3x8's, 20min all out. Etc...

You can't train for a 5k by running balls out every single or every other day. You have to have volume, and some HIIT sprinkled in. Like some 200m stuff sprinkled into your weekly 10k run or something.
