I'm doing a drop bar conversion on this Univega Range Rover. Can anyone tell me the hub spacing F/R and also the seat post size? The one on their has no markings and I have no caliper. TIA

1991? GF tassajara
Decent condition, fits wife. Didn't realize significance of odd size "evolution" bearings if they ever need replacement.

Do you find that the type of stay on that rack that goes all the way to the fork end stiffens up the fork? It seems like it would, but not sure how much or if it would be in a bad way.

My rack mounts to the canti bosses on my fork, and I noticed no difference whatsoever.

Here I show you one of the many bikes that I have restored. This is a 1992 Orbea Succes MTB.
It was my bike from when I was a teenager, and I was sorry to have it hanging in my attic.

I changed the covers, cleaned all the rusty parts with aluminum foil and coke, replaced the foam on the handlebar with a foam for a baby stroller.

Also weld on a handlebar stem extension for a more comfortable position. I had to change the chair as it was very worn. I also replaced the brake shoes.

It is a bicycle frame made in Spain, made of steel, and it is eternal.

And so, I have enjoyed my usual bike again and it works phenomenally, since the Shimano shifters and brakes go perfectly.

Here I leave you a couple of photos.

So it was nothing else to restore it, with a MTB style.

that's how it was when I adapted it to go to work in the city. I changed the covers and put some saddlebags on it.

Nice, a not-often-seen (outside ebay) XT seatpost appears in the wild.

1994 Giant Iguana still going strong!

I bought this bike new in 1994. I was questioning whether it would be old enough to post, then I realized that was 26 years ago! Sounds like a long time to me.... but doesn't seem like it. Anyways.... I love this bike. served me well in my 20's 30's and 40's. Bought a new Verve 3 a few weeks ago. Way better on my body. however, I'll still ride my Iguana now and then.

My neighbor rolled this up today as a gimmie. Anyone know what that metal plate is for by the bottom bracket?

Lucky dog. You don’t see too many of the 900-series, let alone a 970. 👍 I’m just guessing on that plate, but maybe a mud-scraper? 🤔

Looks like a generic anti chainsuck device.

Both good thoughts. Guess I'll pull it and see if I can find any markings on it.

Not “generic”. It’s probably OEM which means it’s a quality () Trek product.

Having an issue with my Sakae atm. I bought new tires for a mongoose project but thought I'd see what they look like on the Sakae. No I don't think I can take them off again.

Picked up a pretty cool Gary Fisher Aquila today. Need a rebuild, but will clean up nicely. Has some cool old retro bits on it. Mr.Crud chain guide, rock ring on the crank and a small chain guide block attached to the chain stay. Can't say I've ever seen one of those. Should be a solid rider.

Two piece crankset swap

Like the upgrades I see here. Wanting lower gearing on my 90's rockhopper.
Looking at SHIMANO ALIVIO FC-M4050 22-30-40 to get lower gearing, there is
this 16% hill..........

Any concerns about chain line etc?

Last night I brought home what I believe to be a Japan-made Specialized Stumpjumper Sport XT. It has a good number of original parts, but the seat, seatpost, tires, rear derailleur and pedals have definitely been replaced. I'm not quite sure what else has been changed.

I'm not even totally sure if this is an '83 or an '84 model, but I'm assuming the Deerhead components point to an '84. The serial number is A3346355. If any Specialized aficionados are able to chime in, I'd greatly appreciate it.

So when a friend sends you a text and tells you to pick up a couple of free bikes, you don’t expect one of them to be a 95 Rockhopper Comp (STX group). Offered to give him some money for it, but he just wanted to clear out some garage space. Original owner and it excellent condition. What a solid bike.

I saw one like this on CL for $180. and I thought it was a good deal. Anybody familiar with the quality of the STX group?
