Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Fred sighting- bar end lovers check this

Volunteering at the local century ride, lots of bikes, had to get a pic of this.

Owner/operator in the background

Two other notables that I didn't get pics of:

- Interesting camo style paint job, harlequin bar tape, vintage frame w/ modern components.
Talked to the owner, & asked if he had painted it himself. Yes, he said he had painted the frame with condiments i.e. ketchup, mustard, hot sauce! Kind of a patina process, clear coat over.

- Bamboo frame, disk brakes, vintage leather saddle, vintage wooden track rims, 2 spare tubulars, carbon bottle cages veneered with wood, brown painted stainless bottles, brown leather bar tape, brown painted hubs, Tan wool jersey.

Someone's riding a bike. Good for them.

yeah, what's the big deal? some guy out riding his bike... and on Century at that.

personally I am more inclined to wave at this rider than some d.ouche bag on the latest Carbon Dogma and a team sky kit with matching helmet.

people don't go that far without appreciating being noticed... Some go matchy-matchy some go extreme conflict-of-interest.

But they both want to be seen

Well, true that both the bar end bike, and the bamboo one were parked in the same place- front and center to the rest stop crowd.
