Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Very walkable yet still provides better power transfer than any strap/cage combo. A niche item to be sure, but I'm on my second pair

The giro empires are badass, I absolutely love mine...enough to drop the dough for the mtb ones.

For the roadie, spd-sl:

Backups, spd-sl (I wanted the blue ltd ed ones, but they're not really all that compared to the empires):

And the camo mtb empire's for the fixed gear...originally got these for the mtb, but went with spiked platform pedals instead:

Current primary: sidi wires
In rotation: sidi ergo 3, sidi ergo 2, sidi genius 6.6
You can say that I like my sidis like some people like air jordans.

Why?
Most importantly my feet just fit sidi's like a glove; I've experimented a lot and simply put in the words of goldilocks who broke into my house, they were "just right". Then there's quality in workmanship and the best part is they're darn near completely rebuildable after wear and tear or an unfortunate crash. I recently had the 6.6's re-velcro'd expertly (he reused the exact same stitch marks) my local shoe cobbler. Also, did I mention they are designed quite nicely?

I did them a disservice by even comparing them to air jordans above.

I am sooo jealous...can't tell you how badly I wanted those and missed out. Thought about getting the camo Sidi Dominators earlier this summer but ended up passing - they were just not in the same league as those Empires.

I wish I would have gotten them when Arts first had them, I could have used their 15% off coupon and saved quite a bit. Instead I found them from some random online retailer and paid full price. They're awesome though. The few times I wore them on the trails chewed them up a bit as you can see in the photo, but it's not that bad.

I ride Chrome Kursk Pro's with my CrankBros eggbeaters for daily commute and a pair or retro 1996 Nike PoohBah for long/fast rides.

Both fit and ride like a dream but I do love how solid the sole is on my Chromes. Never have to worry about power delivery.

Interesting review. I checked into them back when I was considering clipless. They look cool and all, but glad I went with a MTB shoe. Walkable enough for me.
