My Mirella Is Going In A Museum, How Cool Is That
I picked up a Mirella from a fellow biker several years ago. Over time I corrected the minor issues that kept the bike off the road, but once made road worthy, it never became one of my favorites. I'm more into 1980s bikes. So when I decided to thin the herd I looked at the Mirella and thought, it's time for it to find a new home where it's appreciated. So I put it on CL, got a little action. Then about a week after posting, I got a text from a guy who was a sincere buyer. Those who have sold bikes on CL, know what I mean. They ask intelligent questions and want to set up a meeting as soon as possible. Well the fellow met with me at the pre-arranged location, took one look at the Mirella and bought it. Then he tells me "Oh, by the way, this is going in a museum after we work on it a little." I was thrilled. The Mirella is in good shape for a 1970 bike with almost all original Campagnolo parts. It's one of the less common gold painted bikes. I'm really glad that my efforts to keep this bike original paid off. The museum where it will appear is the Lane Motor Museum in Nashville TN.

Just today i passed on a bike that i had for a few years. It got less and it's use over time.
Sweet that its going into a museum. Did the guy say which one and why this bike?

Nice. I get over to Nashville a couple of times a year, I'll check out that museum (and the bike if it's on display) next time I'm in town.

I liked it far better on the 58 Pmount, but switched out to the Stronglight for correctness after I found one.
The GS had the Simplex rings after the Magistroni's before it got swapped out.

I ran across a CL ad for a Mirella. It shocked me, as that's my 4 year old daughters name and I had no idea that was a bicycle brand.

Yes, it's the Lane Motor Museum in Nashville TN. He told me they would need to work on the bike to polish some of the parts. I think they might touch up some of the paint chips, possibly replace the damaged Made In Italy decal. So they probably look at this as raw material. But it's nice that they're starting out with a bike that's over 90% original. Only the saddle, tires, and brake cables are not original. I'm pretty sure the bar tape is original, but they'll probably replace that too.

It IS in very good shape so a good candidate for a "display piece"after some cleaning and polishing. I'm surprised to see that Made in Italy, banner decal on a 1970s bike, I didn't notice those until seen on much later frames like 1980s Bianchis, but it's a decal that evidently had a very long life-span and wide-ranging use, too!
