This is a 26-er, and the pics of other copies of this bike I see online show it with upright handlebars, so I guess it qualifies as a tandem MTB. Smokin' price, even with the mods.

Cilo Road Bike 54cm Shimano 105 - $275 (Jamaica Plain)

Good condition Cilo road bike, frame made of Tange 1 steel. It’s 54cm, so best for someone 5’7-5’11.

The seat post, bar tape and break hoods are brand new. It has all Shimano 105 components, downtube 105 shifters, 6 speed in the back. The shifting is smooth, the break pads can use a little re-aligning.

It’s a really good looking bike that can go fast. And is ready for a home where it’ll be used and loved.

Aside from the hideous tape and that horrible stem, this is a very pretty bike. Columbus tubing, sweet fade (in purple!), chrome stays, Suntour Sprint....

https://boston.craigslist.org/gbs/bi...209142398.html

Miele - $300 (Belmont)

Late 80’s Miele Columbus road bike. 54cm frame. Columbus frame and fork. Indexed 6 speed Suntour Sprint group. The wheels are true and the seat post and stem move freely. Miele was a small/medium sized Italian/Canadian builder outside Toronto. Classic Italian style bike.

Trek 560 Racing Road Bike - $575 (Hingham)

Hand built – Made in the USA – Molybdenum Steel.

Size – I’m 5’4” – I’m at the very low limit - fits someone probably 5-5” - 6’+ better.

Original owner – this was in the front window of the bike store.

Shimano 105 components, Forte' replacement wheels and rims w/ aero spokes. Carbon fiber seat post – Performance Bike Forte' pro saddle. Pedals are Shimano 105 clip ins you’ll probably need to replace with what works with your shoes.

This bike has been used; but also well maintained / cleaned / regularly broken down re-greased / upgraded. There are minor dings …

Price is reasonably negotiable.

Not a killer deal... but probably not too far out of line. The Scoboni bikes were built by Ross himself, beautifully made, and are quite rare.

I had no idea Andy was building frames now, I wish him luck. I hope Bob Roll cashes in on his name soon too, and starts selling cool custom wheels with his moniker.

I'll concede that the sum total of the parts value is likely near or more than the ask, but this seems like an example of the value of the whole being less than the value of the parts because of the execution. Mismatched wheels, tape, stem...
it's just ugly.

Um... No.
Even though the wheels and saddle are atrocious, Indy Fabs -even 20+ years old IF's like this one- are among the best frames around. Around here (Boston) where they are from, that bike would easily get $800-$1100.

I agree that the seller should have put more effort into better presentation. At least clean it up and put air in the tires! But the text implies that the seller isn't an avid cyclist.

$925 is the upper end of a fair asking price for an outstanding bike.

Oy, have you had your coffee yet? I didn't complain about the price, or the frame, or denigrate the parts. I said that the bike is losing value because of the haphazard amalgamation of parts. This is something you agree with considering your valuation of the bike puts it at $800-$1100. Presented well so it doesn't look like a parts bin build in the listed size, it's easily $925. With a complete set of the Rolf wheels in clean condition: at least $1000. As it sits? Ugly.

^^^^^ The fade paint job, plus the extreme wheel mismatch, it seems like you're looking at two different bicycles.

OK, let me catch my breath.

I misread your post as if you were saying it should not be posted here or that it is not a desirable bike. I was also pretty grumpy after sitting on hold for 45 minutes and getting dropped twice while trying to schedule a dentist appointment for my 10 yo.

I think we both agree that the seller has only a vague notion of what he/she has, and doesn't have a clue how to present it in its best light.

62.5cm Raysport Super Corsa on St Louis Craigs.

I have a special spot for this marque as it was the "child" of the late Ray Florman, Ray was a driving force in the St Louis area for cycling. He also fostered/mentored John Howard in John's early days. This one is the more common Super Corsa, a Cinelli SC knockoff. It is said that Ian Alsop was involved in the frame building.

https://stlouis.craigslist.org/bik/d...207460394.html

Willing to facilitate should you buy.

interesting...it doesn’t look like a 57 based on the head tube...very deceptive size looking.

thats a pretty good deal.
