Here is a picture of a Montello that I picked up last fall. This picture shows a black saddle but I swapped it out for a white Mundialita whick looks much better.

Hi - No, the dual cages were an option at some point it seems.

Any pictures of yours?

I posted these same pictures on the "retro roadies" thread, but I'm adding them here for posterity.

My "Clydesdale Cruiser" !

I am stretching the limits of C&V definition with this one , i know -- as its an '04. Its only saving grace in that regard is looking at the current Pinarello or Opera website -- in comparison, my steel bike looks like its from a different era already

I've had it built about 3 weeks now and while its not done (i'd like shorter cranks and update the cockpit to modern 31.8 stuff ) its a great ride so far

Ive thought long and hard about what to do with this one. Maybe full Super Record, or a modern set up with new Veloce from Ribblecycles. After riding it on a few longer rides, I'm pretty happy with the 600 and don't really see a reason to spend the money to end up with the same performance. I did change the stem and bars over to a Cinelli setup.

All, what a great collection of Pinarello's!
@sloar - Mine has 7400 series on it save for the HS which is Campy. I would have preferred to have all Campy on an Italian bike. Even thought of selling the group and purchasing the Campy group for an exchange. It shifts really well and the gearing is about right. I have enough other bikes to fiddle with so it is not going to be changed at this point in time. The best part, it rides great!

Wow, great color! Together with all the shiny silver. It looks as it's in it great condition.
I would opt for a chrome/polished aluminium stem/handle bar and seatpost though. Together with white tape...

My long term plan for this bike is to rebuild it with an 11-speed Athena group. These are just the parts I had on hand. I did originally intend to use silver seatpost/stem/bars but I actually think the black looks nice, so I'm not sure now.

BTW. though the significance of this didn't occur to me until after I had it finished, the rims are Delgados.

Picked this up yesterday and looked in this thread if there were more models like this one but could not find any right away.

Red Pinarello in Columbus max tubing:

Only put on some new bartape and took it for a spin.
First impressions; It feels a little twitchy with steering in the bends but exceptionally stable and direct when putting on some power, it just feels fast

I like this one a lot

Wow, that's a rare, and valuable bike.

I'll play, this is my Pinarello Montello with mainly 600 Ultegra group I got for a good price a few years back. I've worked out it is a 'frame only' Montello as seen in the '85 catalogue: https://bulgier.net/pics/bike/catalog...rello85/9d.jpg. Telling features are the lack of chainstay bridge, external top tube cable guides and seat tube bidon mounts. There is no chrome under the unoriginal paint – whether it was removed or not I’m not sure. All the decals are long gone. When I got it, it had a horrid aluminium fork which I’ve since swapped out for a generic steel job, but I have managed to find an original Pinarello fork that will be going on shortly.

I’ve just removed all components and doing some light rust removal before it goes to the painter (Sun Graphics) who will be chroming the frame and fork and giving it a coat of ‘midnight blue’ as per the original catalogue image, new decals from Cyclomondo and a clear coat.

When finished at the painters, it will be getting a Campy Chorus 1[SUP]st[/SUP] Gen 8-speed groupset. Also of note is the panto’d Pinarello Cinelli stem it came with.

I’ll throw up some pictures once it’s done.

It lives in Melbourne, Australia.
So the frame has been stripped of it's powdercoat, chromed, primed, new decals and clear coat. Original Pinarello fork and bottom bracket installed.

Astute readers may be familiar with what I was aiming for: https://bulgier.net/pics/bike/catalog...rello85/9d.jpg

Absolutely stoked with how it has turned out. Now to put some jewellery on it...

PIN20, bless you for creating mobile art. I try to do this on a limited scale, from time to time, knowing full well I will loose $ in the end. Chroming has become very expensive and the last I did the results were poor at best.

One owner '88 Montello Chromo Velato, Super Record (other than C Record seat post), and to my great shame...original tires, lol!
